Hi,

I'm after a new monitor and have a few in mind but can't decide which one is best, i've got up to about £250 to spend and i'm mainly going to be using it for photoshop work and also to replace my old TV and watch movies on hence the need for 22".

The ones i've got in mind and my inital thoughts on these are as follows:

Samsung Pebble SM2232BW - Looks nice, not very sturdy and bad backlight levels apparently

Samsung SM226BW - Again looks nice, bit sturdier than the pebble but not sure about all this panel 'lottery' stuff!

LG L227WT - Looks very nice, good response time, good contrast ratio, seems a very good monitor but can't find many reviews

HP W2207H - Looks pretty good, been wary of HP products since my flatmate worked for them but this gets good reviews

After much deliberation and review reading i was thinking of getting the LG L227WT or the HP W2207H with the LG one being my current favourite but am after some advice as don't know too much about them.

Obviously for image work i'd prefer an S-IPS screen but i can't really stretch above £250 and wanted something larger than 20" to watch movies on.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated ...

good luck with that one......there must be hundreds of threads asking a similar question to yours but its hard to recommend one over the other.

personally i love the samsung 226bw i have infront of me...amazing colours and a real sharp picture....zero ghosting with a super low response time of 2ms ...oh it also looks cool as hell....the blue on/off switch goes with the blue light on my volume control and my blue backlight g15 keyboard.

unfortunately i cant recommend it as your not guaranteed to get a samsung 226bw even if you paid for one.

Samsung Pebble SM2232BW is amazing as far as i can tell! only thing that have bad to say about it is yo have to turn the brightness down to about 10-15 or its way too bright! :p but apart from thats its amazing quality :) wasnt my first choice but im glad i got it now :D

Samsung 226CW

Great monitor with a guaranteed samsung panel.

Glossy screens look great, but I avoided them due to the glare.

They don't actually have a guaranteed s-panel..they lied!

The only way to get a guaranteed s-panel is to buy the
iiyama 2ms 22" ironically :)

Cheers for the advice on the Samsungs, my first thought was to get the pebble but after reading a fair few bad reviews it put a bit of doubt in my head! anyone got any views on the LG or the HP ones?

I have an LG, i love it movies are great to watch. Crysis looks good at lower rez.

10/10 for a TN panel :)
