oh well, guess I add my name to the long list of casualties. last week it crashed whilst playing PGR3, when I rebooted i got 3 flashing red quarants ( just the upper right un-lit ) so I checked out the microsoft website andit said-

turn off
remove AV lead and power lead
replace power lead and av lead
turn on

this worked, didnt play on it again till tonight. after 3 races on PGR3 it hangs again, reboot and the same lights. do the above again but nothing this time, still getting the lights. the back is so warm, dont know if its more so then normal though. plus i thought you got a warning of it overheating?

gonna contact GAME tomorrow, see what they say, hopefully they will do a straight swap rather then me have to contact microsoft

I think it's just bad batches, got mine release day and never had one problem with it and it's normally on at least 4 hours every day.

i got it on the 22nd december, just tried switching it on before i call GAME and the thing works. still going to insist that they swap the thing. there is obviouisly a serious fault with the unit

well just called them and they are saying they dont have any in stock to swap it with. great, i thought the stocking issues were over gave me microsofts number.

Amd how long have you had the console? Again this goes back to my concern that over time they will all go belly up.
I would have thought that all the duff ones would have shown themselves within a year so you should be ok. as long as mine lasts until Toys R Us have plenty in stock to replace it with i'll be happy :D

the saga goes on, got my missus to call GAME, she spoke to the same guy. asked him if they have any CORE systems to buy, 'oh yes maddam, we have 2 core units here in store'

BUSTED :-)

so I called them back up and asked to speak to this guy again, told him I had just got my missus to call and that he blatently lied to me so he wouldnt have to use what little stock they had to replace faulty units. after about 30 secs of stuttering the guy tried to say that I asked for XBOX360s not CORE, to him when anyone asks for a XBOX360 it meens the platnum. lol, iv heard some rubbish in my time but I just laughed at the fool. anyway, just off to GAME in warrington to swap my damn box :-P

Does anyone know if it's true that when you get the replacement and enter the serial number your warranty is re-extended to 12 months?

With the vast majority of products out there, they will more than likely either fail right at the start or right at the end. If it doesn't fail after the first few weeks/months, then it will most probably be fine until the users does damage or it comes to the end of its life.

But, it's only been out 2 months, so we'll have to wait and see.
