Hey fellas, as the title says I'm after a fairly decent spec that will last a few years and wondered if anyone had any improvements/suggestions to the below. Use is general gaming, MMO's and the odd FPS + RPG, it has to be quiet as the pc is in the lounge with the missus and her ability to hear a mouse fart!

I've got everything else (Fractal R3 case, BeQuiet 630W psu, HDD, Monitor and OS) so the upgrades are listed below:

x1 EVGA GeForce GTX 660TI 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (3660-KR) with FREE Borderlands 2 PC Game - £249.95
x1 Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - £179.99
x1 Asus Z77 Maximus V Gene Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** Free ROG 16GB USB ** - £149.99
x1 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) - £49.99
x1 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (VTX3-25SAT3-120G) - £83.99
x1 Antec Kúhler H2O 920 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM2+/AM2+/AM3+) - £84.98
x2 Akasa AK-FN058 Apache Black Super Silent 120mm Fan - 4 Pin PWM - £27.98
Total : £826.87

Budget is £850-£900 (I prefer Nvidia cards as I've had previous bad experiances with ATI)

Many thanks :)

Retail CPU has 2 years extra on the warranty and includes a stock heatsink. The GB mobo also has a 3 year uk based warranty. Better SSD although you could use the samsung 830 SSD instead. The closed loop coolers aren't that quiet, you might as well go with the noctua air cooler which works out cheaper.

The KFA2 GPU has more VRAM and is clocked a lil higher out of the box than your EVGA choice. There is a growing trend for quality free to play games, have you heard the star wars MMO is becoming free to play in november i think?

I have a closed loop H50, it is not very quiet. Not loud enough to be really annoying, but i can hear it. If i could get a big air cooler, i would. (I can't as i've got a small case).

Nice to see someone agree with me :)

In all honesty he could get a 670 on that budget as my spec was much cheaper than his original spec.

670 vs 660Ti

NT06-e will cool it without a FAN, pick one of the 13db fans if you want to go for a large OC to stay quiet.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone SST-NT06-E CPU-Cooler £28.99
1 x Noiseblocker BlackSilent Fan XL1 Fan - 120mm £6.98

Also i have heard that bang for buck the 660 is not the best of choices, not fully hooked up on them at the moment though so may be worth a "best bang for buck GPU" thread.

If wanting a cooler you can add your own fan to the way to go is the Prolimatech Megahalems.

This one comes with a silent silverstone fan.

Though the noctua, or the Phanteks PH-TC14PE are great for cooling and known to be very quiet, even with 3 fans.

I agree with Hono. The GTX 670 will be better for you. The 660ti isn't as close to it as many would have liked.

You gotta love these fan specs at times, 13dB haha. You have to wonder if they make these specs up at times.

Mind the RAM heatsinks with the CPU cooler, they may clash. Check out some of the CPU cooler reviews, or threads. You may be alright. The Vengeance LP Blue would be better for you though (as you won't have that issue).

+1 for the lp vengeance, i found that with the megahelims, if you were to eventually populate all ram slots the high finned vengeance would clash with the fan on the megahelims. Discovered this when using ocz reaper in my current system.
