I'm looking to replace my ancient (6 years old) pc. I'm not entirely sure of budget but I'm guessing £600 for PC & £200 for monitor, but there is flexibilty in this - for the right reasons.

I guess it's easier to specify what I want to do with it..

I play MMO's like LOTRO & DDO so I'm assuming I don't need all the oomph you'd need for something like crysis.

I'm also trying to develop into landscape photography (very early days but wish I'd realised this is what I wanted to do in life 20 years ago!). This is where the monitor comes into it... fast enough for the games I play yet having a decent enough (for my untraied eye) colour representation etc.

Thanks in advance for your replys :)

That's some amazingly quick specs!

Temptation... temptation. I think I'm definitely interested in the upgrade options, including a SSD & blue ray player. Will the oc mean changes to power supply & cooling?

Thanks for the great response so far

Well a little bit of necro here! After speaking to a friend, he suggested having a look at an article in Custom PC magazine about building a worthwhile budget PC for £410.

I've tried to pick most of the items but with a few changes & "upgrades" (I think!). The article didn't pick a monitor so I've added the Dell U2311 to my list. Article also suggested the retail windows 7, not the OEM, but couldn't see the retail version here.

Anyway, if there are any tweaks / mistakes to pick up on they'd be much appreciated.

Well I guess the main thing was trying to save some pennies by choosing the AMD Phenom which can be overclocked and would I see any difference in the performance for the things that I use it for.

procrastination is an art form ya know :D

need to create a photobucket / flickr account. grrr

Back again! Can I ask for a spec based on:

1. i5 2500k & P67
2. i5 2500k & Z68 & SSD

Once again, thanks in advance :)
