So my son is trying his hand at his first build. I've tried to advise him to stick to around £2000, but to get it as low as he can. His primary aim is online gaming with friends ofc, mainly FPS. Everything from Minecraft to latest and greatest releases.

We have the following parts from earlier
Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ 27.0" 2560 x 1440
Fractal Design Define R4
Fractal Design Celsius S24
a couple of WD REN 2TB SATA disks that might optionally be thrown in the case for School stuff, 'pictures', backup purposes etc.

Here's what he came up with. Seems like the parts would all fit together at least, but are there any glaring issues, has he overspent in any area etc.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX
G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000
Western Digital WD_Black SN850X (2TB for OS+Apps and 4TB for Games/Data)
Gigabyte EAGLE OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB
be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000 W

One question would be, as theres no LAN to his room, to find a Mobo with WiFi, buy a seperate WiFi card, or use an old spare Asus router that could be used as a bridge.

TIA

Massive overspend and overspec on the psu. A decent 850w such as the Phanteks AMP GH 850w is more than enough for most systems.
Yeah! - Just threw the specs into be quiet! PSU calculater wesbite (assuming a 7800x3d as suggested above) and site itself suggests Dark Power 850w and sticks with it even if going for the 7950x3d.

Good call - Thanks!
