Hi,

I have already posted a few questions in some of the component threads, but as I am proposing to build a true SFF system, this would appear the best place to be!

I have started by choosing my case, which is the soon to be available (from OcUK) Kolink Satellite Micro-ATX Cube Case, into which I plan to mount an Asus PRO GAMING Z170I Mini ITX Skylake Motherboard.

My current thoughts for the other components are as follows:-

CPU: Intel i5 4690
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series™ H60 (or similar - or possibly even just a 'standard' cooler)
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 950 Strix
PSU: Silverstone SST-SX500-LG (or similar)
Memory: 8GB (still to be chosen)
SSD: One Crucial BX100 500GB

I will be keeping my existing Dell S2340L monitor, which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 so the above card will hopefully be fine.

Hopefully this system will be an improvement over the one outlined in my sig. below, but would appreciate any comments on the above components.

I have already decided to stick with the Kolink Satellite Cube case though, as for some reason that really does appeal to me!

Thanks! :)

That CPU won't work on that motherboard. You need either a Skylake CPU or a socket 1150 motherboard.

Also, you're going for a top-end CPU but a low-end GPU. Is that deliberate? You could fit a 980 Ti in that case.

Thanks... I should have noticed that!

Actually this started off as being a fairly low cost project, and I think I got carried away a bit, so let's come back down to earth again!

How about an Asus H81I-Plus Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard, and sticking with the same CPU and GPU (which I wouldn't really say is that low-end) for now?

Hopefully that will lead to a more cost effective and balanced system, which I am sure will still be more than adequate for my requirements.

Thanks, but as I will only be gaming at 1080p a 950 GTX will probably be adequate.

I could always put the money I will save on an H60 towards a slightly better 960 based GPU of course... something like an Asus GeForce GTX 960 TURBO OC card perhaps?

I think the 970 range is more than I would like to spend though.

Edit: Going back to an earlier post, re the mobo and CPU, another option here is to stick with my original choice of an Asus PRO GAMING Z170I Mini ITX Motherboard, and couple it with a lower end Skylake CPU such as an Intel Core i5-6400... or even an i3 based one?

Decisions, decisions! :)
