Hi guys, I wonder if you can help me. Building a new pc, I think I have sorted out the specs, but just wondering if I can get someone to look over it, and double check the compnants. Pc will be used for gaming and flight simming, so good framerates is a must. My budget is £1400 The specs at mo are

And phenom 11 x4 965.
Asus m4a79xtd evo
Samsung hd103sj spinpoint f3 1tb 7200rpm x 2
Ati hd5870. **
Geil ultra 4gb pc3-17000 2133mhz**
Coolermaster cm690 -
Hi power 1000w *psu
Microsoft buis pack key/mouse
Corsair cwch50-1 Water cooling
2 x 23" monitors

only things I'm not sure off is the motherboard and memory

considering the Asus fx version though I understand the only difference is ability to take quad gpus instead of duels.

Planning to oc CPU to 3.8 ghz. And memory to 1600 or 1800 though not sure what sort of gps increase if any that would bring.

All advice on this setup would be greatfully recived.

Spending a fair bit of money there ^^. Points i would make are

1. With the amount of money your willing to spend you should maybe think about shifting to intell, i7 range over the amd.
2. 1600 memory will be fine, barely noticeable past that in games.
3. What psu was you thinking ? 1000 seems a bit overkill to me, plus you want a good quality PSU to ensure the overall safety of the rig.

Hope this helps.

For that kind of budget, I wouldn't recommend going with AMD and instead go for an Intel i5 , here is a review that should show why.

Here is my spec:

Hey guys thanks for your ideas, the psu is from hi power, budget I know but it has all the correct connections and very good reviews. As to the CPU, to be honest, I'm looking at 3ghz + as basic speed. For some reason it seems fsx prefere a faster ghz so as and runs at 3.6 out of box and intel is only 2.6 then I went with amd. However looking at the comments, I'm starting to get impression I may be focusing on the wrong stats here, so thanks for bringing that up, I'll have a look at i5 reviews and start compairing.

The clockspeeds of the AMD Phenom 2 and the Intel i5 are not directly comparable. Clock-for-clock the i5 is faster than the AMD due to its achitecture, ie it gets more done per clock cycle. As you can see in that review I posted, the i5 (at 2.66GHz) beats the 3.4GHz Phenon II 965. The Phenom can only overclock to around 3.8GHz, while the i5 can overclock past 4GHz, so with the i5 overclocked you will have a significantly faster CPU.

As for the PSU, I have never heard of it and I can't find any reviews. Would you be able to check the side of the unit and find the full model name and number?
