hi again all,

yes i have another problem. My beam on my Corsa keeps coming on, it is really sensitive. You click it forward to put it on and pull it back to flash it, but when u push it forward a little bit it will come on or flash and when the indicator clicks off it will sometimes come on also. Im not sure wether it is the leaver problem or a wire problem anyone got any ideas?

thanks

I'd say your stalk needs replacing, sounds like its worn out to me. Thats just a guess though - sorry I can't be of more help.

Replacement of the Leaver?

No, the whole assembly. Its not the lever thats broken, its a question of taking the wheel off too iirc, so unless you are confident, then have a good local garage do it for you.

Great... how much is this going to cost me, will it be best if i buy the part and then take it and get it fitted?

Im afraid I wouldn't be able to say how much, but you will probably end up paying more as you won't be buying it trade. Shop around, there must be some decent garages round you. Also get a quote from Vauxhall to compare.

Don't buy second hand or from a scrappy as it may have the same problem or develop the problem in a short time afterwards.

You have to take the whole wheel off on corsa's? On my 306 I just unscrewed the column and removed the screws holding the switch in.

What about buying one from the Bay of E brand new boxed for 12 quid and having it fitted at a garage?

Whoa.

The shroud unscrews and the stalk just unlugs.

Have a go yourself first - the majority of cars I've worked on don't require the wheel to be removed, just the shrouding.

If as lopez says, and as was with my 306, you can do it yourself easily :)

I used to carry spares in the 205 and the Sierra incase they went pop on event - they have a habit of doing so with uprated lights even when you've relayed the whole assembly.
