Yet another q: about power for 5070Ti

I’d promise this will be my final new build question, but it would probably be a lie. I’m hoping so though!

My GPU (Zotac 5070 Ti as in title) has a 16-pin PCI-E power socket. The instructions say to use an adapter to plumb in two 6+2 pin PCI-E power leads. I could do this. However, my PSU also has a dedicated 16-pin 12V (2x6) socket similar to the one on the GPU, and a cable I could use to connect the two. The PSU is 1000W.

Can I run the GPU using the single 16-pin to 16-pin cable? Or does it require the double 6+2?

(Edit - the connector cable is labelled 600W)

Indebted to you once again! I have built before, but several things have changed since the last time (such as 16-pin plugs) and I’m paranoid about breaking something and then not knowing which part I broke.

Things that have changed since my last build:
- 16-pin connectors on GPUs
- M.2 SSDs connected to the MB
- Cases where the MB fits straight in without needing standoffs
- MBs that don’t have 5.1/7.1 audio output jacks
- Dual auxiliary power sockets on the MB

Most of these things actually make life easier and would have made my build faster. If I hadn’t had to start Googling/watching YouTube videos/posting on here to make sure I wasn’t screwing up. Enormously grateful for your support.

People shouldn't be afraid to ask for help regarding building their PCs. The only time I will point heavily to the search box with a heavy sigh is when we get all the "crystal ball" threads asking about future GPU's performance as if we have an answer for that :P. Anywho, a little tip would be to connect your OS driver(if its an M.2) in your top M.2 slot as that will usually be connected directly to your CPU, at least if its a modern AMD platform, if you haven't already. Happy building and game on ;)

Update on this: had a couple of minor issues I managed to sort out myself, but the system is now fully built, up and running, and seems to all be working well. Haven’t stressed the GPU yet, but as it’s working I don’t anticipate any major issues. Thanks everyone for your help with my fretting.

Today is about rearranging things in my study so I actually have a place for it to go…
