Yet another question about the iPhone

Hi,

This has probably been asked a ton of times, but I want to make sure.

Can I just walk into CPW, give them £169 with a debit card and walk out without signing anything?

Also, does anyone know how much trading in my W810i would save me?

[Edit]
Oh, and has anyone had any experience returning it if it's faulty after it's been jailbroken? I know on the CPW terms it says to return it you'll need to pass an O2 credit check or something.

Thanks
Craig.

I guess I'll have to test every feature of the phone within 7 days then as I do plan to jailbreak and unlock it - huge thread on it here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17824589 so we can talk about it :p

If anything is wrong in the first 7 days I can just restore and return. Warranty is gone after then though :(

CPW will probably ask you to sign something, but it's not a contract. You basically sign something to say that even though you are handing over cash you understand that the shiny new toy you have is a useless brick without a PC/Mac capable of running iTunes and some more money to pay for a contract.

Ah yes, I remember signing that when I got my W810i.

7 ? It's 14 if you change your mind, 28 if its breaks down, plus 1 year warranty from apple.

I read in the terms somewhere - it's 7 days without activation, 14 with activation. 1 year warranty if you do activate, no warranty if you don't activate

You must return your iPhone with all contents (accessories, manuals, etc) and packaging undamaged and unused with a valid till receipt or other proof of purchase to a Carphone Warehouse store and proof of credit check (if applicable) within 7 working days from the date you received your iPhone

If you fail the credit check or if you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, you must return the iPhone in "as new" condition with all the original packaging and accessories to the point of purchase within 14 days from the date of receipt, with a valid till receipt or other proof of purchase to entitle you to a refund. If you've failed the credit check you'll also need your email confirming activation failure.

14 days on O2.

I've also read somewhere that you cannot return/replace/repair the phone after the 7/14 days if it hasn't been activated yet?

Here we go:

Activation must be carried out within 7 working days from when you bought your iPhone, otherwise you will not be able to return it if you fail the O2 credit check. Once you are ready to activate (see Getting Ready), you should connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC using the USB cable provided. iTunes will then activate your device and start connection to the O2 network. To complete the activation process, you'll need to provide:

Do the same terms apply to returns directly to Apple, or O2? Does activation need to be completed for returns if the phone is faulty?

That's a "no quibble return".. not a warranty if it goes faulty.. I'd like to see how they stood up in court if the unit was faulty after a few months and told you to get stuffed because you didn't activate it :)

Ah good, so if it's faulty in any way (even after 7/14 days) I should be able to get it replaced providing I restore it beforehand?
