I am looking at getting an lcd tv.
Would idealy like the biggest possible but dont want to compromise too much on quality.

I have been loking at LE32R41BD 32" HD Ready LCD TV + Built In Freeview at around £744.

My top budget is £1000.

What do people think of this and is there anything better / bigger out there I should be looking at?

is the r41 not quite old.. would you be better looking at one of the newer samsungs?

My mate has just bought one of the new toshiba's wlt66 or something like that I think and it's a cracking unit, plus it gets pretty much 10 out of 10 reviews across the board.

edit : He tells me he paid around £900 so within your budget.

edit 2 : In this months what hi-fi the tosh comes second to only the sony 32" with both recieving 5 stars so it's a toss up between those two with the sony being a shade over 1k I believe. Also the r73 does well but loses points for poor sound(not an issue if your amping it)

cheers for that.

Have had a look at the tosh looks like a nice tv to me.

Not fully up to date on model numbers etc thats prob why I initially chose the Samsung.

Does anyone know what the most recent samsung models are?

edit just found out that I need to be looking at r7's?

good old search function

Yep r73/r74. Grab yourself a copy of what-hifi as they have all of the models mentioned in a round up this month. Then get doewn to a store and compare them yourself. Just remeber that in store they usually have the contrast and brightness set to silly levels to make them appear more bright to the average punter so take time to play.

cheers for the advice pinkaardvark.

Is it best to buy form stores or online these days? Im a bit concerned about online retailers if there are any problems as a tv is quite a large item to return etc.

If online is the best way to go can any one recommend any retailers. (please be aware of posting competitor sites). I am guessing that there will be none that are not competitors but please let me know if there are any that can be listed without breaking the rules.

I bought my 40" samsung from an online place and they posted it via parcel force for £6 lol. Thing is it arrived perfectly and there wasn't a mark on the box, but then if there had of been I'd have just refused it.

At the end of the day as long as your buying by credit card you're pretty safe. With regards to returns/warranty most manufacturers will send someone out to you rather than having to return the unit, but it's always worth asking the etailer this before you buy I guess.

As mentioned we can't reccomend specific places to buy but I'd suggest going over to the AV forums and find a thread for the TV you wan't as there will be loads of posts stating where people got it cheapest and what etailer has stock etc plus you may find there info on discount codes you can use.

I bought a 32WLT66 online for £835 about 5 weeks ago from http://www.homecinematv.co.uk/
There's a huge thread about this TV here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318277

I also bought the official stand for about £120 and I'm very very happy with both standard TV (both DTV from the built in tuner and SKY+) and with my 360 via component.

Football (the true test of a LCD) has no ghosting and 5 weeks on I'm still very satisfied. I was after a 32" as well, again with a £1K budget, In did the research and narrowed it down to a couple. In the end it was the two HDMI inputs that swayed me.

If you want any more info. on this one let us know.

looks like the 32WLT66 is my prefered option at the moment.

Going to go for a look at it in a few stores at the weekend and then off to find the best price. A few online retailers seem to have it at a good price.

Is there anything I should look out for?
