Spec check please
I'm considering changing from my A64 3700 (754) to a core 2 duo system, basically my idea is to go for the E6300 and the Gigabyte DS3 and GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit - I'd go for 2GB but cost is prohibitive.
I know a bunch of new gfx cards and DX10 are around the corner, but these will obviously take a while to drop in price - my current card is an AGP 6800GT, so I thought maybe the best idea would be to get something around £150 or lower as a kind of stopgap until the new technologies are more established. I'm hoping it would be a good improvement for me, without spending too much on 'old' technology. Added in to this is the fact that my current Clawhammer CPU will still fetch a good price second hand, plus I'm guessing that if I wait much longer to sell the value will drop as everyone will have moved on from 754.
So I have a couple of questions, firstly is the spec any good? Secondly if I added another 1GB dual channel memory at a later date, would the total of 2GB still run dual channel?
Oh and lastly could someone recommend me a good mid-range gfx card, not more than £150 - I don't mind if it's ATI or nVidia, just want the best value/power for the money!
