Hi all,

Sorry to post another spec thread, but I was wondering If you could take a look through this:

Core 2 Duo E6600
Asus P5B Deluxe
2gb Geil Ultra DDR2-800
8800 GTS 320mb
Lian-Li PC-7 Plus
Corsair HX520W
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320gb

What do you think of this for around an £800 budget? I was aiming for a rig that will last quite a while, hopefully 1.5 - 2 years. Anything anyone would change?

Many thanks,
gamer

That looks pretty good, if you are thinking about overclocking then I'd probably suggest getting an aftermarket cooler such as the Noctua, Scythe Ninja or Tuniq Tower (whichever one is cheapest is fine). Other than that I can't see anything obvious to change. :)

Thanks guys, my budget is a bit tight so I won't be able to add a cooler at the moment, but I'm definitely considering it for a future purchase. Haven't overclocked before, but after what Ive heard about Core 2 Duo chips, I had to have a go.

I was looking at a Lian-Li PC7 to put this in. I have heard some great reviews about this case, and I love the brushed aluminium. However, I also like the look of the Antec 900, and the practicalities like the tray on the top.

Which case would you recommend, considering the spec, and possible expandability to 2 hard drives and 2 optical drives?

Many thanks,
gamer

depends what you want... the 900 is a lot smaller and hard to keep cables tidy... a lot of people say that more fans doesnt always mean a cooler case but there is wind inside the case so the airmovement is brilliant... although it is dusty
