Sorry if this type of post is getting tedious, but your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Just planning the finishing touches to my first major upgrade in 5 years. I would be really grateful if you could have a look at my list of components and see if i have made any glaring errors. PCI-E, SATA, DDR2 are all new to me. Only my optical drives are any use out of my current setup.
C2D E6300
Asus P5B (seems good value, and my P4PE has been flawless)
Geil 1gb (2 x512) kit 4,4,4,12 (1gb will do for now. Presume those timings are decent)
Antec TP Trio 430w power supply (Should 430 be enough? Have an original TP 330 atm)
Gainward 7900 GS 256mb. (Seems great value if its quiet!)
2 x Samsung 160gb SATA hard drives. (Or maybe Seagates)
That lot should set me back about £560.
PC is used for general home use, although i now seem to prefer my PC for gaming over my PS2. I`m a sucker for the eye candy lol. I also like my PC to be quiet.
As i have some overclocking experience, i will push the C2D a bit, but not to extreme levels. This will all be assembled in my current case, an Antec Performance Plus 660AMG.
Just one other thing, how good is onboard sound on a 2.1 speaker set up? I have an SB live card which has served me well. Any benefit from putting that in the new rig or is the onboard now superior? Speakers are Creative I-Trigue 3400`s
Thanks in advance.
