OK guys, I'll try and explain this as best I can.

I have a copy of Vista for MSDNAA. I installed it but it would not let me register, after going through MS I found out that this is because my Product Key is for Business. I spoke to the AA rep at uni and they said you have to enter the product key so Vista installs the right features, fair enougth I thought.

Basicly the problem is that it wont let me enter the product key anywhere within the installation. Anyone have any suggestions? From what I've seen on google you enter it then it works out what version to put on, if you dont eneter anything it lets you choose for 14 days before activating.

Please help!

Start --> Right Click "Computer" --> Properties

There is a little link towards the bottom of the displayed window to "Change Product Key"

well did u install Vista Business? if you did then you would not have a problem, but if you installed Ultimate, you will need to reinstall with Vista Business and activate with key

Not as simple as that, the key is for Business but Ultimate installed.

My academic alliance person tells me that you just enter the right key, I also found this that might give you a better idea whats going on:

Not gonna bother checking link, You cannot have Ultimate installed and use Business Key, You must install Business and use Business key to activate <---That is your solution to the problem or why you the have problem.

p.s you dont need to enter key when you install but it must be the version that your key is for if you want to activate

Agreed, I misunderstood the original issue.

If you have Ultimate installed and a Business key - you are stuffed without a reinstall.

Yeh as everyone has said, you gotta reinstall. Didnt you see the info on MSDNAA about only choosing to install the business version?

When installing business you can enter the key which you have. First time you connect to the internet it will then activate itself without problems.

Well I thought it sounded pretty crazy but this is what I've been told. Regardless of version, my problem still exsists. During your Vista installations did it ask for the product key?

MSDNAA is business only, not ultimate, or any other version.

you will need to format then re-install Business, and enter thr product key when it asks for it.
then, and only then can you activate.
