I need to ask. Incase I make a stupid mistake.

I already own

850W Coolermaster PSU
Q6600 GO - Purchased last summer :)
4GB 4x1GB sticks of Tracer memory (800MHz CL4)

For the cooler, i know we are not meant to post links to other sites, so i'll just tell you what it is as OcUK don't have it. NOCTUA NH-U9B.

So in all how does this build stack up?
I was gonna get a 4870X2 but its a bit pricy and racks the cost of this build up big time.

So anyway cheers for any replies :)
 
That looks good to me. Dont know anything about that motherboard though, but have seen it used a number of times in SFF PC's so guessing its a popular choice, cant be too bad.

And dont worry about not getting a 4870 x2, the 4890 is still gonna rock when playing pretty much any game out now! :D
 
Just had a look at the spec of the card you put, why not go for the cheaper normal 4890? (not the XT). All I can see different is an extra 25MHz on the core speed... everything else looks the same and its around £20 more for the XT!

correct me if Im wrong and there are other bigger differences :)
 
Are you after silent running? Do you have a fan control? The Sharkoon SE2000 will make some noise at full speed, could be worth going with the SE1000.
 
I second what mr x plosion says about the sharkoon 2000's, i run 5 of the 120mm versions and they are pretty loud at full speed, fantastic cooling, though i do run mine via a fan controller.
 
I would like as close to silent as possible, while allowing me to put the Q6600 at 3.2GHz

Have you seen the case?
the 80mm fan is at the back next to the PSU. Taking air from the HD's.

I'll check out the SE1000
 
Yep, the noctua fans are highly reccomended for their cooling ability at low noise, shame theyre as ugly as sin:D

i was thinking the same thing... Lucky no window in this case. Just the wee air holes for the blue to spill out of and onto my desk!

Shame, I was looking at **** and the xXx version of this card is the same price.

I would love to buy the card from OcUK.
So unless the price is sorted out. I buy the card from ****

I made that mistake before and got banned for a week haha, didnt even get a chance to remove the links!

As for the fans though, the Noctua you posted a link to should be great! All their fans get good at flow at relatively low noise levels. But like you said, thank god you've no window, ugliest things ever haha :p
