We've just moved into temporary digs so I'm not going to get a 12/18 month BB contract sorted in case we move on somewhere that doesn't have it and I'm loathed if I'm getting stuck on Virgin's ADSL service.

However, very handily our neighbours have kindly given us their wireless login details which for the most part works pretty well given the paper thin walls between our houses.

Saying that, it's fine for browsing but the 2-3/5 bar connection on the PC isn't sufficient for gaming. I'm currently using an "Addon 300mbps Wifi PCI-E" card, but it's a bit janky to say the least. The antennas are a bit floppy and needs adjusting to get the best signal on a nightly basis.

Therefore I thought I'd invest in a new, decent wifi card. :)

The Asus PCE-N15 seems to come highly recommended, but is out of stock on OcUK. Any other recommendations?

My other thought was to invest in two high gain antennas for the existing wireless card but I've not had much experience with those so any input on that front would be most appreciated.

I'd hazard a guess and say its not going to matter what Wifi card you bang in your PC. Gaming over wifi is haphazard at best in my experience. Never mind the fact that your using next doors so theres going to be all manner of things degrading signal between theirs and yours.

True, but it's all I've got at the moment so it's a case of doing what I can on my side of the wall. Well unless I can run a length of CAT6 without them knowing. :D

I'd prefer a USB wireless adapter on the end of a decent length USB cable. You can then get the antenna(s) up into clean air rather than having them stuck down behind a metal box.

You could also try something like the TP-Link TL-WR702N. Configure it in client mode and connect to back to the PC with an Ethernet cable.

I've already got an old Linksys WRT54G running Tomato in AP client mode for the lower priority wired stuff, that works well but I do get the old transmit fail drop outs on it so I can use for gaming.

I get a much better connection over wifi direct as far as stability, but it just needs a little improvement.
