I know you guys get these a lot, but I really appreciate any advice I can get before I make the payments. I have a pretty decent idea of what I want, I just want some other opinions on the choices I've made and whether or not there is room for improvement. My budget is £650 and I will be getting a copy of Windows 7 from my Uni. I will not be needing a keyboard/mouse/monitor. I will be using this pc for work and a few games such as WoW, SC2, BF2 and eventually BF3.

I plan to overclock the CPU to at least 4.2Ghz if that helps you with making any changes to the spec.

Lastly, will I benefit much from getting a SSD to boot from and store a few games...or is that just a luxury for those who hate to wait?

Id strongly recomend spending A LOT less on CPU cooler, circa £20-£30 tops, and putting that money towards your gfx card, the 460s were good value cards at the time, but its still a low end generation old gamers card, Id want something better in a new £650 set up if it were me, also the Gigabyte Z68 board is cheaper than either of those above

Eg this, the cooler will still give about 95% the performance of your first one, whilst costing 50%, better mobo, the PSU is still plenty and the gfx card is now worthy of a new gaming system

Alright, I decided to go with a few upgrades. I'm pretty positive that I want a CPU water cooling rather than an air cooler, but I did take the graphics card advice. Here is what I'm planning for now, I'm going over budget, but i've rather save up and get the right stuff than have to replace parts early.

Just a few more questions about some of the parts 95thrifles linked...

Why is the Z68 board so cheap? Why should I drop to that over the MSI P67?

Will the BeQuiet 530W SPU be enough for the system? What if I was to SLI the graphics card in the future?

I think i'm willing to make changes to the motherboard, PSU and graphics card... but everything else I'm fairly certain I want.

Thanks for all your advice, I still have much to learn!

The mobo I linked doesnt have SLi support, the PSU is enough for now, but wouldnt be enough for a dual card set up, if you want to keep SLi option open then the mobo you chose is better option, Id also go for the 750W version of the PSU you included 2nd time round, I was looking to keep things in budget but if your budgets flexible and you want SLi option then go for it

That setup may be fine as in benchmarks the 6950 is able to work on a 650w psu so just check some reviews to see how much power the 560s in sli draw and adjust the power supply as needed

I'll take the BeQuiet PSU then! I won't be upgraded to SLI for a while, so i'll deal with that then.

Thanks for the help guys... I'll post a build log when I get parts :)
