After scouring the news channels I can confidently report the country has survived last night.
All the doomsayers that predicted that the NHS, the ambulance service, the police and anyone else who is involved in keeping our streets from marauding party goers and those that drink to excess at office parties at this time of the yea, would be unable to cope have proved to be false.
Though I might add that on a personal level my ears were assaulted to a tuneless version of 'I wish it could be Christmas every day' in the early hours of this morning. And it seems I am required to search the land for a flashing Santa earing which has been lost in mysterious circumstances. I am reliably informed, by herself I might add, that she was not drunk, just tired and emotional.
