If I were you, I would go for a polar one. I have an encoded polar HR monitor (bought from Argos), which does not interfere with other monitors (and still works on the concept II etc in the gym). I would avoid the strapless ones as they are generally less accurate than the strap-based ones.
 
I would agree. Polar monitors are excellent but avoid the F11 (mine kept freezing and had to send it back a couple of times); apparently it was a common issue with that model. Polar customer support is second to none.

They replaced it with the costler F55 and haven't had any problems with it in the last year.
