The Yorkfields are out, my question is whether its worth getting one at the moment. So I'd like to ask you Q6600 guys about the electricity bills you get and approx how much a month do you pay to keep them on 24/7? That's the only reason I can see for buying a yorkfield over a Q6600, the fact that they will be using less electricity.

Thoughts are welcome :)

no idea on the electric front - nothing major with one pc i think anyway.

The issue with the new yorkies is that it's only going to be a 8x multi i think so you will need a ram and board that does 450 fsb or so to really compete with a Q6600 @ 3.5/3.6ghz.

Personally not going to be jumping ship any time soon.

I must admit I thought the same until I saw that Pneumonic has managed to get 447 FSB with the Q6600 so I'm hoping I get something similar :)

Since I don't have a quad yet, and I thought they weren't going to be on pre order for another few weeks, I thought I'd go straight for it rather than go quad now. The resale price on these will be quite good for the first month anyway :)

At stock the difference is 30-35W. Obviously, the more you clock the socks off it, the bigger that gets. Maybe double if you've got a good one. I'm not sure how the power consumption on Yorkfield compares, but I'd expect the W/clock to be a little lower.
