Anyone know when the Yorkfields are actually due in stock

desperate to upgrade from my amd 3500+ and the wait is killing me :)

Whats the thoughts on the 9650 ? , although its a little outside my budget, im still considering getting one, rather than waiting for q9550, it is my intention to watercool and oc, so maybe i should take the plunge.

will the Q9770 kill the Q9650 (and its price), or is that a whole other ball game ?

I dont think the QX9770 will be much of an improvement over the QX9650 in terms of clock for clock performance, but I'm sure it will clock higher.

As for the price, we're looking at around 950 to 1K.

Nearly bought myself a QX9650 a few weeks back, but I think I'll wait it out and see what happens with prices.

yes i keep hovering over the buy button and then backing off

have read elsewhere the date for the quads is 17th March, but that may well have changed again ..

Been in the same debate myself lately cos looking for my next build.

The QX9650 is the best I guess but comes at that large price tag, I know most will go for the Q9450 cos performance wont be that much different apart from the insane price difference.

But then a QX9650 for £545.00 lets say..... becomes more interesting doesnt it, even if and when they decide to release a 9650 non extreme version thats 3ghz quad core chip its gonna have to be more then the £370 that the Q9550 is so then well theres still a difference but not as bad.

I personaly cant be bothered to wait lol will proberly get the QX9650 but will then force myself to keep the pc for as long as humanly possible and by that time im sure game developers will start to use quads/multiple gpus by then.

I was going to wait for the Q9450, but after seeing the prices, I decided to get a Q6600 G0 and a P5K Premium for around about the same price as the Q9450 alone would have cost. Maybe it would give a slightly higher performance, but I've just started overclocking the Q9600 and I'm currently priming at 3.6 on 1.325vcore, so hopefully a bit more to go there! Plus, the low mult on the Q9450 means that you'll need 450fsb to reach 3.6.

I'm just going to skip the penryn completely, and upgrade to a nehalem next year. I'm sure that this Q6600 will keep me going until then:D

It will technicaly if u got a quadcore running @ 3ghz + u got a 600-700 quid class cpu right there ;) more then enuff to last till the next gen intel cpus :)
