Yorkshire

Very true. I grew up in a village of about 20 houses at the top of Sutton Bank for those that know the area (Cold Kirby). Fantastic place to be a kid - we'd all disappear at about 9 in the morning and come back in time for supper without having to care about anything at all.

Moved to Ripon and then to Knaresborough. Bah not as nice.

I fell of my bike going down the steep side of Sutton bank at 40mph.
Luckily I was wearing helmet, but I have a rather large scar on my knee form the accident.

Yeah Wetherby Whaler is OK. If it served its takeout in paper like it should be and not those carp plastic trays then it would be even better.
It's gone downhill a bit for me, seems more like any old chippy now, it just has a name and nicer fish.

West Yorkshire is where it's at, despite the 'scuzzy' places as mentioned, there are some belting areas. I used to live in the south (Yorkshire that is) and lived in Dore, Sheffield which was class and straight onto the peak district.

edit: Harrogate is also a great town, very classy but it seems like it should be in the south though. :p

We have some friends in Barnsley, their accent can be annoying sometimes!
We had to do presentations at Uni today and I was the last person up.

After listening to all the others, I got up and started. When I actually listen to my own voice (usually when I'm with people who aren't neccesarily from round here) I can't believe how strong my accent is.

I don't mind it, but I bet people think am common as owt when I open mi gob :p

I'd say the Barnsley accent is one of the more stronger Yorkshire accents.

Ohh yes. At work, the office girls put all calls from our Barnsley club to me, as they reckon I'm the only one that understands them!!!

\o/ nah my dad doesn't have that sort of money, I just say Harrogate as nobody knows where Knaresborough is, or hasn't even heard of it. Depending on just how 'south' the person I'm talking to is, I normally just say I live nearish Leeds.

I always say I'm from Leeds though as I assume it's a place people have heard of, as opposed to Wakefield. I'm surprised how many people actually do know of it though.

Sorry but Lancashire or Yorkshire have got nothing on Somerset imo.

The weathers better as well as the Cricket. ;):D

And its the best part of the south, the south west. :)
