Hey chaps,

I currently have a:

SKT 754 Althon 3000+
ASUS K8V-X
1GB DDR 400 RAM
Seagate 80GB SATA
AGP Geforce 6600 256 MB (not GT)

...and would like to know the best thing for a semi decent upgrade - I know Im not going to get much more life out of a 754 mobo but would ideally like to keep it.

I was thinking, would I notice a increase in performance from increasing to 2GB RAM - especially with Vista on the horizon... and moving to a SATA RAID 0 set-up?

For a real budget upgrade (Im a student...) would overclocking the Pentium 805 (toms hardware article) yield a boost in performance from the Althon I have?

Any suggestions welcome - I mainly use my comp for audio/video work and some light gaming - but when I do play games, I want to see them at a good frame rate. Just installed Caesar 4 demo - that card really sweats, even at a low res. To think I moved from a 9800 PRO after breaking it....

2Gb of RAM will help prevent jerkiness in games with large maps, as u won't have to page as much information. It won't help your FPS tho.

You could look at getting a 7600GT AGP version to help there. And your CPU should be a nice little overclocker as well :)
