Is anybody else constantly getting that error randomly popping up? It's doing my bloody head in! Sometimes, actually more often than not, I fire the PS3 up and it won't even sign in at all (keeps timing out when trying to contact the PSN servers), which then makes updating and messaging impossible and not to mention rules out MP gaming.

The settings are fine in the PS3 (as it works sometimes), the settings are all fine on the router (WAG160N) and every other wireless device in the house works fine. It's just the PS3 that's flaky.

Out of curiosity have you tried configuring your PS3 to use OpenDNS? It's solved all my online issues for both the 360 and PS3 and has for many others too.

I've tried both OpenDNS and my ISP's DNS servers, and it's the same flaky connection with random sign outs.

Got uPnP turned off and manually got the correct ports forwarded?

Tried giving your PS3 a static IP and running it in a DMZ?

Yeah, relevant ports are all fowarded, it's got a static IP (as have the wireless devices that use the network) and tried DMZing it too. Still get the random sign outs from the PSN. Normally get this code along with the sign out error "8002A548".

I find mine has very poor signal compared to the laptops in the house. Downloading is really slow when the signal has to go through walls.

Does the PS3 have LoS to the router?

No, the router is upstairs at the back of the house and the PS3 is downstairs at the front (where the big HDTV is). However, I can sit in the same room as the PS3 surfing and downloading with the laptop and not have a problem.

Yeah well i'm downstairs from my router now. Only the ceiling between me and the router. The PS3 is down here too.

I'm on my laptop, full signal and I get most of my 6MBit sync rate when I download. On the PS3 I get about 1MBit of it, and it takes ages to surf, update bits of PSN.

I don't get signed in/out all the time but it is hideously slow when working online.

Have you tried connecting the PS3 by cable to rule out wireless connectivity issues?

It works fine when wired, but that's not really an option for everyday use as I'll need close to 100' foot of cable, and it really negates one of the main reasons I bought it for, the wireless conectivity. I'm beginning to wonder if it's anything to do with the Router using 'N' wireless and the PS3 using "G".

Well it's clearly a wireless issue then, switching the router to G if possible to eliminate it as a factor would be my first port of call.

Yea there maybe some compatibility issues if the router is broadcasting to N recievers aswell as G as they're different frequency bands and N uses that MIMO thing iirc (not entirely sure what it does). I'd try disconnecting all N devices.
