As electric cars are fairly silent, Mercedes-AMG may hire Linkin Park to develop electric car sounds. This is so pedestrians can hear approaching electronic vehicles and avoid being run over. Quite what this sound will be is another matter, said to kick in over 19 mph. It could be mock engine noise or something completely different.

they should just do a lot of engine sounds and let you switch between them depending on the mood,

similar to the "sound racer"

V6
V12

ert, etc.

If only there were senses that allowed you to perceive these cars. Or are electric cars now invisible too?

It's true though, I remember reviewing a Prius for the weekend in Brighton for an article for a Toyota campaign. On three occasions people stepped out in front of me. Never happens in the Evo :p

Should have gone with Limp Bizkit.

So do all the german manufacturers. Search "soundaktor".
I think the Renault system goes beyond what the Germans offer, they're just aiming to 'top up' the sound, the Renault system lets you pick different cars to mimic.

"The choices include a Sport Clio Cup, the Nissan GT-R, the Sport Clio II V6 (remember that from Gran Turismo?) the Renault Reinastella flying spaceship concept, the Renault 8 Gordini, and a classic Alpine 110S."

These always sound crap and like something straight out of a 1990s console game. You just can't simulate the depth of actual explosions.

Plus EVs aren't much quieter than most modern petrol cars so I don't see the issue. On the outside most of the noise is from the tyres and air (unless it's something sporty with a loud exhaust). You can quite clearly hear the motors whirring on EVs too.
