In a month or two I would really like to move to a nice 5.1 setup, only thinking about it I don’t have a clue how I would set it up (in terms of position). I’ve never seen a PC setup that was suited to setting up 5.1 speakers, at least not so the speakers symmetrically surround the station. What do you guys do? Have speakers setup around the room? Wouldn't that alter your perception of the position of the speakers?

So I’m asking for a little inspiration (and a chance to show off your setup :D), what is the best way to position your speakers?

Just finished off my setup in my new room and just a moment ago installed my new sound card. I have all the speakers wall mounted at head height. Loving it totally :p

From the front speakers to the back there is about a 3meter gap, estimated, and is in perfect line and height. Would prefer a little less but I couldn't have them floating in the middle of my room :)

Logitech® Z-5400 Digital 5.1 Speaker System
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music

Hey Sinque thats a nice setup you got there.
I have the same x-fi card and the z-5450's. I was wondering if you could tell me what settings you use with the x-fi and how did do you get the speakers to face inwards when they don't rotate?

My speaker setup is almost exactly the same, except I would have about a 2 metre gap between front and rear speakers, using Logitech Z680s, have had them wall mounted ever since I got them almost 4 years ago, and even after that time they still sound very good. ;)
