I know I made a recent thread about a 470 but this time its a thread for... me.. ooh I feel so naughty doing something for myself for a change!

I have the MSI Lightning 5870 that is 900/1200 from the factory.

I've been tinkering a little and I thought for a while I had it set to 1000/1300 but then after a while I started getting BSODs :(

So I put it to 975/1200 and again was fine for ages and now I'm getting lockups again though I'm really not sure if its just BF3 related.

So I was wondering, what are your overclocks for your 5870?

Im thinking my issue is that the memory just doesnt like going much higher than 1250. I think if I could find a stable 1ghz core clock I'd be happy ;D

Got my Sapphire ATI 5870 @ 1000 on the core, tried for 1300 on memory but couldn't get it stable, didn't like being much past 1280.
This is on stock cooling with 1.25 volts and the fan set to 60%.

Yeah I've had mine running at 1ghz for a while but its when I bump the memory up that I get the problems to.

Mines not a stock cooler I don't think.. unless its considered stock because this is how it came in the box with a Twin Frozr II

Well I just played a fair few hours of BF3 on 1000/1250 @ 1.250v, max temps (and where it stayed) was 67c.. no problems at all, lowest FPS was 60 I think, I didnt notice any slow down. No crashes what so ever.

Everything on high as ultra is where my system sucks but high looks amazing enough anyway! :D

My sapphire is at 1000/1000 undervolted to 1112mv (to reduce power consumption). This is using an aftermarket cooler which keeps it around 40-45C under load.

Going to revive this as I have finally got a Gelid Icy Vision Rev2 fitted to my 5870. CCC and MSI Afterburner will not allow me to play with the volts, but Saphire Trixx will.

I want to bump it up slowly so whats a safe setting for the VDDC? 1.25?

Mine used to run 1025/1300 MHz but i always get the notorious screen flicker with two monitors so its set as stock :(

My refrence XFX 5870 runs at stock setting and hit 90 degrees in portal 2. Scared to overclock it! And really want to upgrade to a 680 because of it! I have tried OC'ing it in the past but it never managed much.
