Hi folks,

Just wondering what everyone's absolutely essential Mac apps are. On my Windows machine, I've got a list of programs which I consider essential to get the most of Windows.

Not too sure as to an OS X list, the OS itself comes with pretty much all the apps I need, but what about you folks?

For me, I'd say my essential apps are:

UnRAR X
Transmit
Microsoft Messenger (MS REALLY need to release a Live Messenger version of this)
iSquint - solely as it pwns my Windows machine when it comes to ripping video for my iPod
iLinkPod - not really essential, but definately handy for moving music to the MacBook after a reinstall
VLC - Plays everything I need.
Firefox - I find it better than Safari, but doesn't feel as good as its Windows counterpart.

So, what about you fellow Mac lovers?

Please check the FAQ.. the list in there was meant for this purpose ;)

You know mozilla recently released Camino for OSX,
Camino® is a Web browser optimized for Mac OS X with a Cocoa user interface, and powerful Gecko layout engine. It's the simple, secure, and fast browser for Mac OS X.

Adium
Alarm Clock
AppZapper
BitRocket
Cha-Ching
Cyberduck
Quicksilver
Growl
skEdit
Xslimmer
PTHPasteboard
teleport

Not all essential but nevermind. Although I have VLC I wouldn't recommend it on the mac, it's terrible. Mine crashes all the time. I prefer Quicktime with all the codecs installed and and AppleScript for fullscreen mode.

Audio Hijack and Handbrake great for recording streaming media & ripping dvd's respectively.

Oh and Steermouse

Btw V For Vendetta your sig is two lines too big

darwinports
adium
quicksilver
mercury (another msn client but supports cam)
Text Wrangler orBBEdit, (bbedit is the full studio version)
Smultron (HTML editor)
Fetch
iworks

Firefox
MSN Messenger
Flip4Mac
VLC
Transmission
Adobe Photoshop CS2 (soon CS3)
Final Cut Pro

Launchbar*
Vectorworks
DrFrame 3D
iWork
MuPad
iBiz and iBank
Filemaker
NoteBook
PDF Clerk

*Don't get me wrong Quicksilver is superb, I just can't get along with it and I find old 'launchy' stunningly fast, intuitive and it suits my way of working better plus I just don't need all the extras that QS gives you) :)

Dashboard-Dunno if its really "software" but the way i customized it its very good!

Mai
