Hi. This is my first post.

I placed an order here at about 1am on the 25th so with a bit of luck I should be getting my order sometime today but before I start I was wondering if I could get a few questions answered in preparation?

This is what I ordered:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-061-GI)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) (HS-017-AR)
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 GA PC2-5400 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400CL3D-2GBGA) (MY-015-GS)
OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-041-OK)
OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply (CA-018-OC)

Now I’m not new to building computers but I haven’t done it in several years so my knowledge is a tad rusty.

So first up what do I need to have ready before I begin? By this I mean software, drivers e.t.c
I have 2 hard drives so I know I need the sata drivers but is there anything else I should have ready, bios updates or board drivers perhaps?

This is purely down to the fact that once I start I will be without the internet until I’m back up so it’s pure preparation.

Second, do I need to adjust the bios settings straight away for the system to work or can I just put it together, format my hard drives, install Windows and tweak after I’m set up?

Third. Considering the components listed above what in your expert opinions do I need to know – any conflict possibilities, anything special that may cause problems that I should know – basically anything that you guys have come across with those upgrades.

Fourth and last for now, Like I said I placed my order around 1am on the 25th but on the tracking page it still says: Your order is awaiting packing in our warehouse now I’m only wondering due to it saying when I ordered that it is next day delivery so I would have assumed it would have been dispatched by now not awaiting packaging.

Anyway just wondering if that’s normal and whether I can track it more thoroughly through the City Link website?

Many Many thanks for reading and your replies.

On the third note, straight away.

I had a DS4 with GSkill Ram and it clocked over an impressive 1000 errors under an hour through MemTest.

What that RAM runs like on a DS3, I don't know. But be sure to test it out.

Thanks, yeah I just read something here about that and now I'm worried - I'm not too clever on figuring out errors.

As long as it allows me to format and install and lets me boot up so I can get online I should be able to find the answer.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not sure it's something that can be fixed, although I'm not 100% sure on that.

In the end I had to exchange my GSkill for some Geil RAM - which did the trick. :)

Great, wish I found this forum before I placed the order :(

Still can anyone else offer some guidence?

Many Thanks
