im still quite new to chrome, so would be happy to hear of your best extensions.

As for me,

gmail notifier
chrome to phone
adblock

i just tried the ebay app and then had a pop up say this is a diverted site and properly wants my user info.... think i will avoid that just to be safe

Iron + adblock.ini
Xmarks but I need to find a replacement for this...

if you use chrome on all you pc's then chrome does the job, i used to use xmarks with cross platform browsers but since swapping all to chrome the inbult one is fine

Let me know if you find a decent password or bookmark manager, I'm still using Xmarks which it set to stop working in Jan.

Also, check out the adblock.ini file in Iron, it allows you to blacklist ads without any extensions, just plop the url you want to block in adblock.ini

Alternatively, you could just download Fanboy's block list and put it in your iron directory:

https://secure.fanboy.co.nz/iron/complete/adblock.ini

Easy, simple and works well I find.

what wrong with the google password/bookmark sync?

It's great, but only if you use Chrome exclusively. I use IE and FF too, so Xmarks is really useful for syncing bookmarks between the three.

i see, yeah was a big xmarks fan or foxmarks as it once was, shame its going, i bit the bullet and just when over fully to chrome, but do miss firefox every now and again
