Your biggest ever let down game... EVER!

But the biggest by far is one no one has mentioned yet.

Master of Orion 3

Jesus christ that game was an abortion, the studio imploded after that. Terrible interface, some game mechanics weren't there, when i say weren't there i don't mean the code was broken, i mean it wasn't ****ing there!
Would you like to turn off the planet governor so he doesn't build crap you don't want on a planet? so would i! but you can't, with the setting off it still auto builds!

ff13
What do you mean no towns? they were the best bloody part of FF, going into a new town with wicked FMV, exploring, picking up treasure and new weapons etc.

xcom terror from the deep
This wasn't even an expansion let alone a sequel

x beyond the frontier
no time acceleration? **** off, 3 hours of flying everywhere extremely slowly until i can buy a time accelerator unit? no.

Diablo 2
We waited and we waited.
It then hit the shelves, but due to the sprite based graphics we were stuck at 640x480 at a time when 1024x768 was the norm - if not higher.
The game itself looked and sounded great, but once you started playing it....
You couldn't just have a quick session as the game progressed due to the levels respawning on exit.
When I completed it with one character I had no urge at all to play again with other characters.
They couldn't even get something simple like weather working - I played with mates online numerous times.
It was raining on one of our screens but not the others.
Let down is an understatement.

rofl at some of the games people are spouting out, Diablo 2 biggest letdown ever? LOL play more games. Loads of people just turn these kind of threads into "lets name a popular game I don't like".

No, I honestly feel that Diablo 2 was one of the biggest let-downs in games.
Quite how you feel you know my own opinions better than me I don't know.
Sure Diablo 2 has a following.
However I still feel it was one of the **** games ever released.
My opinion and guess what - I know it far better than you.

I had completely forgotten about Ultima 9. I'd literally grown up with Ultima, from No. 3 onwards.

Number 9 was to be full 3D and the biggest and best ever. It was AWFUL. There were numerous game breaking bugs (hit one myself that meant I got stuck about a third of the way through) and it ran like treacle even on decent systems. It also ripped all the built up lore from the previous games to shreds, contradicting or just plain ignoring it.

Worst of all, they made it a single character action game, heresy after two decades of party based roleplaying games :(

Far Cry 2
Sprawling landscapes, tight story, clever AI... all ruined by respawning checkpoints.

Loved the game but you are right. After clearing a checkpoint with a perfectly well thought out and executed plan, you rewards are that moments later they're all back. Should have least been 24 hours not 24 seconds. FAIL!

I don't think I've ever bought a game that's seriously disappointed. My gaming time is a luxury so I tend to read all the reviews before I buy anyway. If I had to name one, I guess it was Splinter Cell DA.

Deus Ex 2 - After 10 minutes of playing it I was put off console ports for life, horribly clunky interface and such a narrow field of vision meant 10 minutes was all it got before I uninstalled it and sold it on.

1. Far Cry 2
2. Crysis
3. Turok <---what was I thinking?!
4. GTA IV
5. Kayne & Lynch
6. Dragon Age
7. MW2 <---came with my new GFX card

Another for Far Cry2 , not only did it make fall asleep while playing it made me feel really sick as well.

Are you serious?! Cuz...thats EXACTLY what happened to me....**every time** In fact if I wanted a headache I just needed to play that for 45mins or so. I dunno why it did make me feel ill. Rubbish gameplay as well, uninstalled rapidly.

Doesn't mean your opinion can't be massively wrong and baffling though ;) D2 was one of the greatest games ever made, however I'm sure it wasn't what you wanted or expected, and I guess that's what this thread is about :D

Biggest let down?
Vanguard, AC2, WOW, LoTRO, Aion - I forget many more, but basically any mmorpg since DAoC, nothing's got anywhere near close to the group pvp and even the pvp ffa servers. Rose tinted glasses and all that...

Star Trek - The next generation - A Final Unity
By Spectrum Holobyte for the PC

In the days when I just went in a game shop & bought by the look of the cover.

Godfather 2

I wanted to like the game and for it to be good but it just didn't. I mean it was an alright game but after taking over business's several times and realising that was what you did all time it became boring (at least to me) plus there was not much else to do when you just wanted to have a free-roam.

Medal of Honor Spearhead

2015 left and it was in the hands of EA, no need to say it went downhill fast. All we wanted was Allied assault with more maps :(
