Okay, since the last topic wouldn't have been noticed due to the title...

How do you guys fix that unsightly mess behind your entertainment centre/desk, ect.? Any techniques you regularly use that always produce good results?

pics would be welcome too.

(Currently have an 'organized' mess of velcroed up cables behind my TV stand, and I'd like to see if I can improve it any more. I have a hatred of power bricks.)

shove all the wires and the multiplug behind the desk where i cant see them. it may end up being spaghetti junction, but at least i cant see it

the only downside is this:

I tried normal cable ties but they're a PITA when you need to change a cable.

I'm currently using a mixture of velcro cable ties (you can get a pack with 4x rolls of 25 x 4" ones for a tenner, or a roll that you cut to size for a few quid), twist tie on a roll (morrisons sell it, or any gardening store will likely have it in green), and some little hooks/eyes.
I've also got some of that "split" wrap stuff you see advertised on TV, which I picked up for a pound a pack.

I use the split wrap to hold bunches of cables together over any long run that isn't likely to be touched much (IE power leads to the TV/DVD players etc), and use the velcro to hold cables that may need to be moved together and any excess at the end of the runs.
The twist ties are handy for hooking the cables to the "eyes" screwed into the underside of my desk etc.

Mark any and all cables at both ends - that ways when you need to unplug a device or do anything you can hopefully do it without playing "guess the cable", and it makes life much simpler when you're trying to undo just one cable, or sorting the cabling out.
You still get a rats nest, but it's a tidier one and easier to get individual cables out of :)

Desk... I have an iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse, so there aren't many wires to deal with. Entertainment centre... cable ties.

Since when did this require a "Solution"?

Transport Solution
Lighting Solution
How to find my arse with both hands Solution

Arrrrgh... Sick of nonsensical waffle.

If you want to know how wiring companies do it, they use a run of special trunking with gaps every inch, wires are run in and out through the gaps.

Just bought - Cable Tidy Wrap Management System Kit Black
from a well known auction place thingy :) Also got some very similar ones from Poundland, or it could have been Poundworld.

If anyone has a cable management solution for a glass TV stand, I am listening

I hate them, they annoy me, I attempt to clean up wires, but I can still see them, because glass is transparent
