Aug 2006 - N plate 1995 Peugeot 205 1.1, this was my first car that I ever purchased at 17 and I was still learning to drive at the time but I passed in May 2008 and I then got to use it properly. For a first car and in terms of running reliability it was great (only 71K on the clock) but the electrics (2 front electric windows & central locking surprisingly!) were a bit hit & miss and it was a bit of a shock to see the drivers side window fall down the door one day... however it never broke down on me once and always started on the button. Sadly I went into the back on a bus at 5mph in Jan 2009, the end result was a dent in the end of the bonnet, smashed headlight, huge hole in the bumper & a smashed grill and I subsequently sold the car on to a mate for a mere £50 and it was still only on 77K.
Feb 2009 - 02 plate Ford Fiesta MK5 1.2, as I was out of a car and had no spare funds at the time I ended up borrowing some money and purchased this motor. Great little car with only 55K when purchased and really reliable, not much to say about it really but the suspension system on this car really was shocking, well I found out when the MOT was due exactly a year after purchase that the rear bushes were completely shot (common problem if I remember correctly) but even after having them replaced the ride was still somewhat uncomfortable.
May 2010 - 52 plate Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec. I had been on the hunt for something a little bit bigger and more comfortable for a while and originally I had my eyes set on a VW Bora but at the time there was not a decent one within my budget so I decided to settle for this Focus. In a way I took a bit of a gamble with it as it was on 110K but it did have a lot of service history & stamps in the book but to the sellers knowledge it had not had the cambelt changed at any point and he apparently had the clutch replaced a week prior as it had started to slip when he got it from the auction but he could not produce proof at the time due to "not putting it through the books" hhmmm... Anyway I had already test drove 3 other Focus's prior to viewing this one and all of them had been badly treated but this one was by far the most taken care of. The clutch on the car did feel "new" you could say as it had a low biting point so in a way I believed him and he offered to take my Fiesta in at a good price so I thought sod it and did the deal, and I'm really glad I did. I owned this car for 2 years and apart from the coil pack dying 4 months down the line, it never let me down! However, I didn't want to tempt fate and I did end up having the cambelt done at 118K just to be on the safe side, 7 months after purchasing the car. When I sold it last year it was on 135K, I never did need the clutch replacing and it was still running strong (and it's still on the road today as far as I know).
April 2012 - 52 plate Seat Leon S 1.6. I decided to sell the Focus as I was offered my Step Dad's Leon for a great price and it was only on 71K, in a way I didn't want to sell the Focus though as it had been a great car and I always enjoyed driving it and loved how comfortable it felt. Anyway the Leon was still a reliable and comfortable car, I did a lot of modding on it during ownership (17" Starfish alloys, 40mm springs & sports shocks, Cupra steering wheel). However in a way I found the car in general to feel a bit sluggish at times and not so great to drive and I started to get a bit restless with it.
Dec 2012 - 03 plate Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec. Yep, that's right! - I purchased another Focus! I decided to restore the Leon back to standard and sell it on as I missed everything about a Focus. I spent a week hunting one down and in the end I settled for this one, it had done 104K when I got it and it's currently on 109K. What more can I say about it? It's a Focus! It runs and feels lovely but it does in general though feel even more comfortable in terms of handling and suspension when compared to my last 52 plate Focus. This one as well is also exactly the same spec as my last one.
May 2013 - W plate 2000 Volkswagen Bora 1.6 SE. Here we go yet again! Another new car so soon (only yesterday in fact lol!) I've always kept a close but discreet eye on Bora's ever since first wanting to own one back in 2010 but I've never been able to shell out for a decent & well looked after one until now... I got it for a bargain and even though it's nearing 13 years old, it's in very good condition and despite it being on 126K now - it drives & feels like it has only done half the mileage.
There we go. In general now though I'm happy with where I am with cars and I can see myself owning this Bora for quite a few years at least or even until it dies, I've got no desire to change to another car (unless a 1.9 TDI Bora comes my way, but fat chance of that for a long time yet!) as I love the look and feel of these cars. Needless to say, at the minute I currently own 2 cars (first time ever!) the Focus still and now this Bora. The Focus is currently up for sale and has been for nearly 2 weeks now, got someone coming to view it tomorrow so hopefully it sells
