"Your Computer was Unable to Start" - keep getting this on start up- can anyone help?

I've started to get the above message over the past few days.
This follows the pc hanging on startup and an option to enter a hyperthread utility.

If I shut the PC down, I then get the message to run startup repair.
Once its run I get the following system details:
system disk= \serivce\harddisk 0
windows directory = E:\windows
Auto Chk Run = 0
Number of route causes = 1

Can anyone help sort this out for me - really need my PC over the next week...

I couldn't get it to run?
When I run system repair it tells me that the problem can't be fixed and the system shuts down.
When I then restart the system everything is fine and windows boots as normal?
 
Only just came back to this because I've been running start up repair, get message it can't be fixed, then switch of the pc, turn back on again and it boots normally.
PC wanted to install one particular update again so to prevent I've just been switching off the machine. Today windows ran a scheduled update before I could stop it and now when I run system repair, it can't repair and won't re-start when I try the method previously used.
Any suggestions what I should do - I really need my PC this weekend.
 
Tried system restore and I'm getting the message:
"An unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x8000ffff)"

I think I may have to replace my hard drive - windows is on the ssd so I guess it's this drive that has failed.

I'm concerned about installing windows (and other programmes) on a new ssd due to activation concerns - only recently did a fresh install on this SSD.

What do people think re: activation but also a recommendation for a new SSD?
