Cafe Nero.
Starbucks coffee is far too weak for my taste.

There are obvious reason for that.

1 - Cafe Nero put 2 shots in every cup, Starbucks used to only put 1, unless you asked and pay for double. However, they now put in 2 as standard.

2 - A medium (Grande) size in Starbucks is Large in Cafe Nero. So Cafe Nero's coffee always are more concentrated as a result, it has less milk to espresso ratio.

I do my best to avoid the big chain cafes due to them mainly using over-roasted beans to make burnt and bland coffee with boiled milk. Luckily in London there are a large selection of independent decent coffee shops, my favourite being Taylor Street Baristas.

I boycott those coffee shops so I make my own coffee at home.

I go Morocco quite often and bring back loads of sweet/coca beans, I use a Krups Burr grinder; Magimix coffee machine and a aeroccino milk frother. Best coffee ever :)

It's funny how people perceive the varying strengths.

For me:

  • Starbucks is too watery
  • Nero is too strong
  • Costa is just right

/Goldilocks

But some of you claim Nero is too weak!

Maybe it's down to individual premeses/staff.

Nero, its the most convenient in Wrexham and nicer than Starbucks.

There is an independent shop in Wrexham though which I prefer, and I can buy some decent coffee beans while I am there

Not so keen on Nero. Costa or Starbucks usually, I prefer Costa.
Theres a great tea place in Stratford on Avon called the 'Real Tea Cafe' which makes a nice change. Their 'Builders tea' is awesome! Other than that, location is more important to me than the brand, nothing beats sitting by the river at the RSC on a sunny day drinking coffee.

All pretentious over-priced garbage IMO.
Over priced.. yes. But why pretentious? Anyone who wants to be pretentious about coffee will avoid the chains and go to the new hip independent place?

Not that I really do it, but its funny how it's perceived as pretentious to sit in a coffee shop and while away your day whereas if you're in the pub nobody would care..?

I try to go to a decent independent whenever possible for coffee.

Pretty much this as far as I'm concerned. Though pressed for choice out of one of the chain coffee shops I tend to go for Nero.

Great place, Went in there several times while on Holiday a few weeks back. Recommend it to anyone going there.
