I thought we should have another one of these threads. They make an interesting read.

Here's mine:

"We succeeded in taking that picture [from deep space], and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam." - Carl Sagan

I don't have a quote to add, but that one you've posted with the picture certainly deserves its

A man's ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death. - Einstein

Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh.
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship,
mavity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures! - Clockwork orange

From the Sopranos

Psychiatrist- you think he's smarter than you?
Tony- i think he's smarter than you, why you keep *****ing on the test?

Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible ****... me. - Snatch

NO SWEARING - Jefan.

I cant remember the full quote but one i always remembered (or at least tried to) is

We know all the answers, we need only to unlock our mind in order to see them"

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

"I used to go missing a lot...Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World."

I love the photo and quote in the OP, puts our insignificant existence into context somewhat.

The quote one in my sig (from Aristotle) has also struck a particular chord with me.

"The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us." - Calvin and Hobbes (Bill Watterson).

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein.

"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." - Rich Cook.
