Why is it that when you recieve a newly boxed Graphics card that you feel like a child at Christmas... and if your order is late arriving you start dancing around the house stamping your feet while exhaustively looking out the window every 5 minutes.
The first computer I owned and built for myself was:
P3 400Mhz
64mb Ram
Turtle beech sound card
Geforce 2 MX440 (my friend had the GTS and I was so jealous)
HP 17" CRT
Windows 98 plus!
To put it bluntly, I was hooked up
I only ever upgraded my system on the release of a new G card. It has always been the most important component of my PC build.
I was just sitting here thinking about how I used to think my Geforce 3 Ti 500 rocked, then the massive leap that was made when I installed the Ti4600, then the ATI 9700. It was the first time I could get a steady 120fps @ 1280 x 1024 while playing RTCW online.
The step up then moved to feature the 6800GT, that was incredible. Playing Doom 3 Quake 4 and Half life 2 was an exhilarating experience.
I have recently installed these games to play on my current rig enjoying for a second time...
G Cards I have owned:
Geforce 2 mx440
Geforce 3 TI 500
Geforce 4 TI4600
ATI 9700
Geforce 6800 GT
Geforce 7800GTX
Now:
Awaiting DX10 Geforce 8 or ATI's next installment... whichever seems to be better
