what was the first job you had? - what was your starting point in life?

for me working in a garden centre as a christmas temp for a few weeks about 6 years ago.

Also my current job.

Weekend and holiday sales monkey at a vastly overpriced local independent computer shop, back in the days when I cared about computers. About 13 years ago now.

Washing cars when I was about 8-10?

That probably doesn't count so a tomato factory. I did 1 day then sacked it off because it was terrible. Un-loading wagons in a New Look factory after that. Physically hard work but the time went fast and I got fit

Worked in a farm shop when I was 14. Spent most of the day bagging up onions and carrying bags of potatoes to old ladies cars.

First contracted job was at tesco from the ages of 16 - 18 whilst I was at college. I did the trolleys and sold fags/lottery on the kiosk.

God I hated rollovers.

Before that though, had a paper round for years and worked Saturdays at my dad's friends photo processing shop.

My first paid employment was washing cars with at my creepy great uncle's used car dealership

My first job was the post office in a rural village and my share was about £3494.
after a few of those I moved on to banks and building societies

As a shop assistant in a Le Creuset outlet store (my Mum worked there and just as she moved up to head office she kindly got me the job without any effort on my part to properly apply/interview). It turned out that I started it as my 2 weeks of "work experience" during school, so ended up getting paid for it. Such loaded, very dollar.

In a bearings factory doing quality control, which included the bearings Williams F1 team used. Wasn't that interesting though, stick on machine, right down result and stick in accept or reject pile.
