Your First Job

I got a summer job at a biotech company that had a field station in the village I lived in.

My first task was cleaning out the crap under the oiltank. Spilled oil, old leaves, dead birds, all congealed into one glorious black mess. They gave me a white boiler suit! Lunchtime of the first day, resembling Al Jolson, I announced to my boss "Finished!".

"Crikey!" he replied, "I though that'd take you at least a week".

Worked on Saturdays at my Dad's friends photo processing shop whilst doing a paper round each morning mon-sat. From about ages 13 - 16

After that I worked at one of the larger tesco selling fags and lottery! I used to hate rollovers with a passion, this was before you could do it online, ages 16-18

First job was bar work, did that for 10 years at deputy level. Jacked that in 3 years ago now work for Fujitsu as a mobile engineer.

£10/hour writing Lotus 1-2-3 macros for a pensions administration firm in Farringdon (1990, when £10/hour was a lot of money).

Selling sweets in the playground at the age of 12.......

Then carrying 4-5 redline slate tiles at a time onto a roof at the age of 15, no scaffolding just a ladder to the roof. ;)

I worked at Tesco for just over a year on a Saturday while I was in Sixth Form. It wasn't much fun :p

Actually prior to that, I had a paper round - They paid so badly it should've been illegal.
