Your graphics card history tree?

ATI Rage 128
Voodoo 2
Geforce 2 256
ATI 9500
Geforce 7 7800GTX
Geforce 7 7900GTX (3 broke! Worst card ever)
Geforce 7 7950GX2 (bought another 7950GX2 a few months later for effectively quad SLI).
ATI 4870X2
AMD 5970
AMD 6990
AMD 7990
AMD 295X2
GeForce GTX 1080Ti AMP Extreme
AMD 7900XTX

There were some earlier ones but this is as much as I can remember - x800 > x1900XT > 5770 > 6770M (MBP) > 570 > 670 > 970 > 1080 > 2070s > 2080ti > 3070 > 3080 > 3090.

GF4 MX440 64mb (still have it in an Athlon XP rig)
Geforce 5500 128mb
6600GT 256mb
7800GT 256mb
x300 SE 64mb or summit (gave up gaming for a while)
X1950 Pro 256mb
7900GTO 512mb
X1950XT-X 512mb
So… there was an 11 year gap here where life took over and a couple of hours of Football Manager on a laptop was the height of gaming for me. Then lockdown happened and I built my first rig in years. And so the list continued with..

RX480
980Ti
1080
2080
RX480 (was busy with work and the 2080 was suddenly worth twice what I paid for it)
6700XT

Voodoo 2
ATI rage Pro
Hercules 3D Prophet
ATI 9800 Pro
Nvidia 7600GT
Nvidia 8800GTX
GTX 570
GTX670
GTX 970
GTX 1070ti
RTX3060

Most of these came from the MM here.

I've actually forgotten a few in between, I moved to Nvidia after a got a dodgy Radeon HD5750 and never went back.

Was thinking yesterday how mine graphics card tree evolved in all those years of pc gaming and would like to see other persons graphics card history so here it goes.
Voodoo 1
Voodoo 2
..
<20 years of swapping amongst AMD and Nvidia cards that I was too young and drunk to remember..>
..
GTX 970
GTX 1080Ti
..
<Retired poverty where a new graphics card would cost more than my annual food bill..>

8800gts>GTX460>GTX580>GTX670>GTX970>GTX108ti>RTX3080>RTX3090
...Just realised that I've never had an AMD card... Although I did have a gaming laptop with a 7900 which was top of the line at the time.

Geforce 2 mx 400
Geforce 4200ti
Ati something
Ati something
Geforce 6800 gt (probably my favourite)
Ati hd 4850
Nvidia 8800 gts 320mb
Ati hd 5850
Amd hd 7950
Amd 280x
Nvidia 970
Nvidia 1070
Nvidia 1080ti
Nvidia 3070 mobile
Nvidia 3060ti
Nvidia 4090

Probably missing a few but a rough idea.

Damn that's nearly 1 a year, I'm sure I had most for a few years.

Geforce FX 5200 (rookie mistake I know, only time I fitted it myself when I was a kid though so worth it for the knowledge/experience, plus ran Morrowind well enough)
Radeon 9800 Pro (came in a prebuilt from ALDI, sure enough it conked out after 6 months or so. Was epic for playing Far Cry, Half Life 2 etc for a while though)
Radeon HD4850 (deleted)
GeForce GTX970 (bought this PC from a friend who didn't want it anymore, was one of the best cards at the time, has done me well)
Current GTX1650 - more of a sidegrade I think the 970 actually outperforms this. Anyway, definitely on the lookout for a new card soon

Edit - sorry, just read competitor rules, autocensor took care of one but surely ALDI doesn't count?

Oooft, got me thinking on this one.

GeForce GTX 460 768mb
AMD 6950 - crossfire & watercooled
AMD R9 290
GeForce 980ti

GeForce 3090 24gb

Intel 810 chipset 4mb onboard (lol)
3dfx Voodoo 2 12mb (loved that one)
GeForce 2 GTS 32mb
GeForce 4 4200ti 128mb
Radeon 9800 Pro
Radeon X800 GTO (unlocked to 16 pixel pipes)
Radeon X1950 Pro
Radeon 3870
Radeon 4850
Radeon 5850 (can't remember how much memory any of the above Radeon cards had)
Radeon 290 4GB
GTX 980 4GB
GTX 1070 8GB
RTX 2080 8GB

Very few cards compared to some in here! No brand loyalty here either, it was always performance I was after.
Add the 3080 to this lot..

My first ever experience PC gaming was with some 4mb or 8mb gfx card that I was playing Tomb raider on. It was nice and smooth compared to the PlayStation version. Then I tried half life on it lol. The frame rate was all over the place, and moving from section to section took about 5 minutes to load. That was painful. The PC had 32mb ram and a 100 something MHz speed Then I got a Geforce 4200 ti. Playing Far Cry on that was a game changer.
