what is the most moving song for you? there must be one out there for everyone, that just gets the emotions flowing? don't deny there isn't one out there :p

i have two.

Akon - don't matter

and the obvious

Aerosmith - dont wanna miss a thing

so how bout you guys and gals??

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word - Elton John (no I'm not a fan but I do know a good song when I hear one).

And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda - The Pogues (one for WWI history lovers).

I Know It's Over - The Smiths (for all who have been dumped).

Gordon is a Moron by Jilted John.... unless I've mistook it for all these years, and it's really all about Gordon Brown :D

<cheesy> DJ Sammy - Heaven (Candlelight Mix) </cheesy>
Imagine - John Lennon
Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
Angie - Rolling Stones

Perhaps the most melancholic/beautiful song I've yet heard is Wilco - Jesus, etc. and to think I only listened to it after someone mentioned it in a similar thread. :)

But the most moving song for me is also the best song of all time: Lynryd Skynryd - Freebird. I could listen to it a million times and not get bored by it, that is how good it is.

For various, very personal reasons,

Evanescence, My immortal.

Guaranteed to bring a lump to my throat, even if it is a little cheesy.

sebastien tellier - la ritournelle

La Ritournelle (the only love song)

Oh nothing's going to change my love for you
I wanna spend my life with you
So we make love on the grass under the moon
No one call tell, damned if I do
Forever journey on golden avenues
I drift in your eyes since I love you
I got that beat in my veins for only rule
Love is to share, mine is for you

its just perfect

Different songs depending on the genre:

With or Without You - U2. Not a huge fan but that song is amazing and was played at a time in my life when it was particularly pertinent. Can still make me fill up at times.

Dancey songs - Adagio (William Orbit) Just something about it.

Classical - Bolero, and Clare de Lune (the song they play in Oceans 11 walking away from the Bellagio fountains).

Opera(ish) - Time to Say Goodbye. Can't hear that without blubbing as it was played when someone I love died.

Vincent - Don Mclean

Also very moving song. Good choice.

Walk Away - FFAF. Not one of my favourite bands but it came out a exactly the same time I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and it seemed to strike a nerve with me and the missus :)

Oh, also For The Love Of God by Steve Vai - classic tune.

Dropkick Murphy's - The Green Fields of France (just cause i'm loving the old celtic songs, and this one's a bit sad)
James Blunt - You're Beautiful (best friend's funeral song)
