Your motoring plans for 2026?

Hi there

My plans are as follows:

E30 325i Sport:
- dyno run see where it’s at now
- respray to bring back to new condition, welding all completed back end last year
- anything else it needs

R8:
- thorough check over by RE Performance later this year and Haldex oil change
- Long weekend road trip in Scotland end of April

Cayman R:
- Major service including PDK filter/oil change
- Trackday in February
- More track days later this year

Shelby GT500:
- change diff oil later this month
- Uprate the brakes
- Drift days at Oulton Park

McLaren:
- fit titanium exhaust
- Major service
- Trip to Black Forest in May with Making Tracks tour company for six days
- Trip to South of France in September with McLaren Owners Club for twelve days
- McLaren Peak District trip
- McLaren Wales drive out

All cars are in tip top condition and pretty much where I want them so not much to do apart from whatever they need and enjoying them.

Also going Goodwood Festival of Speed again this year on Thursday and Friday. As always plenty of cars and coffee along with plenty of drives to Wales and Scotland in various cars and EU trips for McLaren.

The R8 looks like day it rolled out showroom and had all fluids changed bar haldex fluid. McLaren just needs its March annual service no issues but will probably fit a titanium exhaust. Mustang pretty sorted now just needs better brakes and diff fluid. E30 will be fully restored and finished end of this month so will be displaying it at shows. Cayman R be doing odd track day and Mustang drifting days.

No plans to sell any but I own them all with zero finance, also no plans to add any, was the plan this year but the Corvette went and GT500 joined the fleet. Feel I’ve got a great mix of drivers cars and no real desires for anything else at present. :)

I need to drive it. The front corner still hasn't been repaired from someone taking it out in a car park a few years ago but it's only cosmetic, although more than I'd want to spend as the other driver stopped responding once I got quotes. Now it's re-catted I'm a lot happier with the car so some trips need to be planned, but no idea what yet. 13 years old this year and only 60k.

Financially recover from the loss, after selling my Jag and redundancy. So will be keeping the boring, reliable, 20+ year old Toyota Corolla. Maybe towards the end of 2026 I might get something interesting again.

Ive largely given up tbh. Roads are in poor condition and im sick of being stuck behind 40mph morons.
This is why I bought my first SUV after years of them holding zero appeal. After blowing 6 tyres due to pot holes, I started to fear driving my BMW. Terrible combination of hard side walls and low profiles tyres made for an AWFUL bumpy road experience and each time you'd hit something even minor it would BANG and then a couple of seconds I'd find myself grimacing waiting for the BEEEEEEP from the tyre pressure monitor telling me another 350 quid tyre was needed.

Now I have 45 series tyres and Air Suspension and it's been transformational. Golf R is still stiff but the BMW's secondary damping was really really poor on big bumpy roads. I can't see myself buying another BMW again, I think the 530D was my last one.

I remember when RE was Ricky and a single ramp and him and I lifting my front diff off my old R8 as his dad watched on with a coffee one Saturday morning. He has come a long way since and not surprising as he really does know R8's and V10's, almost photographic memory of individual wires and components within the cars he works on.

Need to replace the Kia ceed GT this year, the Audi A4 also needs replacing now it's 20 years old and starting to look a bit tatty.

Problem is I can't decide what to replace either with. The Kia definitely needs to go, but the A4, it's been a reliable steed, and we only do around 5k miles a year in it, we've had it for 13 years and it gets serviced every 6 months and done all work it's needed doing.

Need something bigger like v90 size boot, but I want petrol, power and auto, and the costs to have all this is a bit more than I would like to pay, with used car prices inflated as they are.

Planning on moving to my own place this year and stopping paying someone else's mortgage so a lot hinges on that, but I'm humming and hawing about either a new car (428i will be 11 years old and 5 years in my ownership come July. It's been faultless almost with only 1 thing, a headlight level sensor at £89) or a motorbike and Son would get one too which will entail passing my test and all that entails.

Defender is built so hopefully pick that up in Jan. 110 D350 X but will swap for the IPACE. I’ll get the Honda MOTd. Interested to hear Gordon Murray has now bought an insight. Probably gonna order a Range Rover Sport PHEV to replace the evoque if the wife agrees to big cars and gives electric commuting.

Daughter is 18 in Jan and keen to get a mini and black it all out so that should keep me busy, other than those motors… try not to get banned here

Trying to avoid getting points on the license
License is up for review with the DVLA for medical conditions in Feb (so depending on that if i continue to drive)
If im still driving, possibly change the car, as starting to do more miles so the little run about might not cut it this year

For the Lotus just more weekend blasts, ideally want to fit in a weekend over into Wales and time allowing another trip through France. For the Mustang that depends if I move house or not, the long term plan for that one is to get it garaged and then get the bodywork brought back to almost newish condition.

Sold up and doing cheap motoring for now. I got a bit fed up of the bills and **** roads. Also planning on buying another, bigger house this year.

Audi Q7 TFSIe needs replacing before Jan 2027 as I'm not running it without a warranty and it makes sense to punt it in the spring with a decent amount left for a private purchase (logical in my book?)

I want minimal outlay for a replacement so X5 45e is on the cards, but not sure we really need such a massive hybrid thing (for rear space, luggage capacity & occasional towing) if the i3S continues to offer free local electric motoring. G30 Touring or E Estate might be a more sensible option (but non-hybrid due to lack of boot space).

Not particularly exciting. May also punt M2 but might make sense to keep it as I've just forked out for a large service, etc.
Just bought a RSQ8 Performance Carbon Vorsprung, So far loving it. Its a replacement for the wifes Macan S. I've still got the M5 Competition, so the big question for us is which one do we take on this years Euro road trip.

My heart says it'll probably be the last time we take the M5 if we've still got it, But my back and hips are saying the RSQ8 as its super comfy and just as mental (poss even more as its massive)

We had a X545E and loved it. Fully loaded (even had heated and cooled drinks holders) and extremely comfy, Did a 5000 mile Euro trip whilst waiting for my M5 to arrive. Its the car the Mrs misses the most but she wanted something smaller hence the Macan, And now she's in the RSQ8 so size obviously DOES matter

The Q7 is and has been amazing. The wife often drives 800 miles across Europe in 1 go with the kids to visit her family and it's so effortless. The massage seats and electronics make it such a stressless experience too. As much as you want to take the M5, you know the RSQ8 will be the better tool for the job, unless you've got some twisties planned :)

It's little things that the Audi does so well as opposed to the X5 though - covered door sills so you don't get dirty trousers, 3 separate adjustable seats in the back, etc. X5 is tighter in the back, but if it's a sideways move then for the money I can't complain :)
