Hi

I was thinking about getting a few notebook laptops as a christmas presents for my kids. Just wondering what most thought of these specs and prices. I know a fair bit about desktop hardware but when it comes to laptops i am guessing tbh

AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 Processor 1.6GHz
1600 MHz HT
512 KB Cache
1024 MB RAM
80 GB Hard Drive
DVD ReWriter Multidrive
15.4" Widescreen HD Brightview display
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
128mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics

My main concern is that the cpu seems a little low @1.6 even if it dual core but i don't even know if that low/med/hihg range and the other main concern is that the GFX card again low/mid/high card?

Want a system that doesn't need to be high end but would run most games adaquetly for kids these days.

Appreicate any opinions and suggestion. For 500 smackers i was thinking it was a little dear considering the specs or am i wrong?

Cheers in advance.

I'd say the CPU is adequate, better than the Celeron M that you get for similarly priced Intel laptops.

Does that price include VAT?? If it does then I'd say £500 for 1Gb RAM, 80gb HDD, and DVD writer is very good value.

However the GPU is really only good for minor gamings.
