If you can do the same as greenmangaming I'll most likely buy from ocuk. Even if I do not receive a retail box. As long as the offers are good as well I'm sold.

Was gonna post this exact same thing, they are doing it the right way, plus regular discount codes and quidco

I just noticed shopto post a picture of your parcel on your account just before sending it out. Insane! I don't know of any other retailer to do this!

Having the code straight away is great but some people say on limited download deals may want the disk to save bandwidth, also any extra gubbins in the box is nice to have.

Edit: 5000th post :D

Thats true, if there are any CE items I really want I'll get it retail. Saying that the last ones that I've bought are WOW CEs' and starcraft 2 ce, but that's because I'm sad and wanted the pet/scratch codes :P

Digital distribution is awesome and I vastly prefer it to going to the shops. It's that added peace of mind that it's tied to an account and you can log on and download it again at any time. It's just there, on the digital space.

How does this affect Taxes?

IE I do not pay VAT in Jersey - Is you selling me the code counted as a Zero-Rated export?

Voted for code sent though. Would PREFER the retail box gubbins to get sent in slowmail as a followup and I would assume that it would be the only legal way to sell to someone like me VAT free.

I think Email the codes with a drop down option of having the physical item sent out for P&P costs, if the customer wishes.

What happens if the company goes under? You'll be wishing you had the box and DVDs! :p

What would happen to retail boxes that weren't sent out?

The reason I ask is because my son's Steam account was hijacked last year because he's young (15) and a bit naive (of a tool :D) He couldn't change his password because he'd forgoten his email address and the password to it (told you he was a tool) So I emailed Steam support and the way I successfully recovered the account was to send a photo of the CD key from his retail copy of Left4Dead (yes I know he's too young to play it), they then send a code that you write above the CD key and send them another picture of it and a new email address to lock the account to.

So wouldn't it be possible to do the same with the discarded retail boxes that Overclockers throw away? I know it's a bit of a long shot for someone to take the discarded retail boxes out of Overclockers rubbish bin, but it's an opportunity for Steam accounts to be compromised that might need addressing.

Maybe shreading the manual or quick reference card after the code has been sent.

i always go with whats the best value, i prefer to have all my games attached to steam, but i refuse to pay the insane prices they charge sometimes when u can get the physical media for sometimes £10-15 cheaper.

If your code prices are cheaper than steam stuff then it will deffinetly be a win, if they arnt, but you send the phsyical media afterwards, then this is a win also =)
