2020 has been ridiculous but like Sean Penn when he was married to Madonna, not like Maccy singing me to sleep each ni -

Anyway. It's almost finished, in a couple of weeks we get to say hi to 2021 but some (most?) of us will still be living under severe restrictions, with limited access to things we once took for granted, in a world which has a new US President and a UK about to do *checks notes* GET something, BREXIT DONE probably, and 2021 is probably only different from 2020 because this time we're expecting it.

So what are your plans for 2021? How do you plan given the fact the wheels have fallen off most of the things which have wheels, and that things which don't have wheels have been making the eyes at said things with wheels?

For the little it is worth, here in NZ where we're living in relative normality, the difficult part is trying to remember that this luxury we have where life is 95% back to normal will change in an instant when the next case of COVID is found. So our plans - my wife and family, not NZ in general, that would be presumptious of me - is basically 'aim high, accept lower, be grateful just to finish the race'. And I think that's it and I think that's ok.

What are your plans?

fake e: I had the below quote pop up when I started this thread from a thread I never (and correctly never) posted a month or so ago about how rad Beethoven was. I only leave it in because I think Ludwig van Beethoven would have looked forward to 2021 despite and not because of the assclown that 2020 proved to be.

Ludwig van Beethoven
(/ˈlʊdvɪɡ væn ˈbeɪtoʊvən/ (listen); German: [ˈluːtvɪç fan ˈbeːtˌhoːfn̩] (listen); baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer and pianist whose music ranks amongst the most performed of the classical music repertoire; he remains one of the most admired composers in the history of Western music. His works span the transition from the classical period to the romantic era in classical music. His career has conventionally been divided into early, middle, and late periods. The "early" period, during which he forged his craft, is typically considered to have lasted until 1802. From 1802 to around 1812, his "middle" period showed an individual development from the "classical" styles of Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and is sometimes characterized as "heroic." During this time he began to suffer increasingly from deafness. In his "late" period from 1812 to his death in 1827, he extended his innovations in musical form and expression.

Want to serious research emigration to new Zealand
-is it feasible?
-how long will it take?
-what do I need to do to fill any requirements
I'd love to move before I live anywhere else.
This is both something I've wanted to do for a while but never made happen. Brexit is a big push. As is the real feeling 'life is too short'

Holiday. I want 2 nice holidays to make up for none this year! Lots of UK mini breaks

Get the garden done as worked on house interior this year. (bought this year in Feb)

Get out on my bike /kayak more. Make some friends around that side of life

I've got 2 Ultramarathons which will be my first attempt at anything >marathon distance. One of which rolled over from 2020 so hopeful they go ahead.

Other than that i like your "aim high, accept lower" phrase. I'm not making much in the way of plans, we'd like to get on holiday and to get over to Spain to visit my parents a few more times than we usually do.

Hoping work will continue to let me work from home, my work life balance is much improved and we're looking at moving from 2 cars to 1 car because it makes more sense. Especially since both cars are virtually the same!

Study more, game less. Also get back into working out. I injured myself [for the second time] working out during lockdown 1.0 and had to take a few months off, so will be back on it in January.

I don't think 2021 is going to be massively different to 2020, in spite of the vaccine. I think there'll still be a lot of uncertainty and restrictions around.

This is the same for me, started getting back into the gym then lockdown kciked in and haven't been to the gym (which is next to my office) since being kept away from work.

I'm also going to make a bigger effort to create more.

While trying to not go completely loopy, trying to forget about the Covid craziness at work and hopefully getting back my pre-Covid fitness levels.

Next year going to be even worse than this. At least this year, we had a normal January and February.

Wanted to take my youngest on his first plane trip abroad and to visit his family, unlikely to happen.

At least new vaccine hasn't started I am legend yet

Keep my head down, do the usual winter/spring building and grounds maintenance and hope for at least as many bookings as we managed this year.

Any family being able to visit will be a bonus.

Zero plans as things won't return to normal for quite some considerable time, so just plod on basically.

My focus is on the house, all 4 party walls sound proofed, new windows and doors all round is the focus for this year with a view to getting a loft conversion and new driveway and patio in the next couple of years after that

A holiday would be nice this year too but I'm not holding my breath

Hopefully before the end of 2020 I will have a date for completion of a house so plan for 2021 will be to move into the house and make it a home.

Going from a rented small 2 bedroom house to a purchase of a 4 bedroom house with decent gardens, beyond excited for next year at the moment.

Neither of my children know about this and the plan is to keep it quiet, pick them up from their mums and just turn up to the new house.

Also going to push for more money at work but that's always the plan ;)
