Just wondered if anyone's into Vinyl :)

Have a small collection made up of 80's / 90's Soul and Electro with the odd bit of Acid House and others

Just over 210 in total made up of LP's and 12"

I own around 300 cd's but not one single piece of vinyl, I was thinking of getting some of my favourite albums in vinyl just to look at and better appreciate the artwork.

i've got about 300-400 records on Vinyl (Just ordered 2 more today). Regularly play them when working at home.. much better than MP3s :D

It's quite surprising why some of the older vintage records are worth. some of the early 90s stuff is VERY expensive (although I wouldn't call them vintage)

Only a couple of pieces. When I still had a set of technics I had several hundred pieces of various electronic genres. I'm rebuilding that collection and if I absolutely cannot find a piece of CD, I'll get it on vinyl. I won't go out of my way to buy vinyl versions these days since I haven't the space and it's more of a pain in the ass to rip to NAS.

I also have quite a few 78's old jazz and a gramophone which was left to me but not something i ever use as it brings back too many memories to someone close to me

i had a few hundred 12" techno, trance and house vinyls in the mid to late 90s. i had some SL1210 mkII decks and i loved them. but i only loved DJing - i could never put something on then sit down to listen. i'd rather stick a CD on.

Not much now, but was resident dj for clubs from 1991 till 2001, so used to have huge amounts.

Think we have similar taste, or are from similar backgrounds with music Eyerex, as I often nod approvingly at the vinyl you post in the purchased thread.

I started with soul and funk and rap in my earlier days and finished playing house and trance.

It's odd to think that i got into Electro off the back of listening to classical music as my first record i ever bought was Chi Mai and also loved Rondo Veneziano - La Serenissima think it has something to do with there backing beat and melody then one day in the early 80's on Arena BBC 2 they had a programme about new music which featured Afrika Bambaataa - Planet Rock and from that day i was hooked

Have to thank a bloke i worked with at my first job at 16 who got me into soul who asked me if i would copy a few of his albums onto tape which were Loose Ends, Surface and early Alexander O'Neal and i never looked back as even as a white bloke who never went near the dance floor in Studio's in Streatham or Sinatras in Croydon you can't help yourself but get your groove on it just has to be in the privacy of my own home when no ones about and when the neighbours are out :D

Ps still remember the nights listening to Mike Allen on Capital Radio "happy days"

There's a small collection in my loft. Mostly late 90s and early 00 dance stuff, house, D&B, breakbeat/bigbeat & hiphop.

There are some choice cuts in there that I don't have on CD/mp3. I really need to get round to digitising the decent stuff and selling the vinyl as I'm probably never going to use it again in anger.
