Your thoughts on this (Only 15bhp extra to knock 1.2seconds off)

Looking on fords website, it looks like it has an overnight to 215 (not sure if the normal st does) but probably the bigger difference is that it has a shorter final ratio in the gearbox by about 15%.

The tests where done in 4th gear

Does the shorter final ratio effect all gears or is it only the 1st or 6th gear that been changed ?

31-62mph in 6.4 seconds? I didnt know the Fiesta ST's was that slow. I Thought they was doing 0-62 in that time.

They 0-62 in around 8 seconds then?

them 31 to 62 times are done in 4th gear

Stock fiesta ST 0-62mph is 6.9 sec and ST200 is 6.7 sec

Yea, it's a European thing. In the US they still use 0-60.

It makes a big difference to on paper figures, because some cars top out at 60mph in 2nd gear.

We don't deal with speed in Km. So why are we using European measurements? :/

I can't imagine it makes any difference, although I did read not all companies are honest about how they test I.e. one manufacturer works it out once the car starts moving which discounts any wheelspin.

And the 20% extra torque.

It is ~10% extra torque (Stock has 290nm with overboost. ST200 and mountune have 320nm)

Having a Fiesta St MP215 myself, the higher gear acceleration is definitely improved.

Interestingly, the ST200 time is 5.2 secs and the MP215 time is 5.7 secs so somehow the same bhp and torque give an extra 0.5 seconds. I therefore guess it must be the shorter ratios in the ST200 that improve that 4th gear 32-62mph time.

Just read the Ford website about the ST200 and it says:

"The new transmission, with shorter Final Drive, has been engineered to give noticeably faster acceleration across all the gears,"

^^ so that most mean the standard fiesta ST Final Drive ratio was engineered for better MPG over performance

Which wouldn't surprise me at all these days..:(

Or it was just a different compromise between the two? Or they knew they were going to release the ST200 and wanted an easy way to differentiate them? Not sure the mpg rant was really necessary!
