so whos a brand whore when it comes to tools? my self I go to carboot sales and pick up good branded items that looks tatty for cheap, aswell as using ebay for other items , if I need something right away I will go to Halfords as there range is very good, infact I got one of them £75 tool deals they do every so often and I don't think one item has broken yet, this was 5-6 years ago and it gets heavy abuse :D

my car been a VAG it requires some special fitting spline drivers so ive managed to pick up a good selection these type of tools aswell

my best bargin was a huge roller cab on wheels for £30 from a mate at work.

pictures would be a good idea  but my camera battery is dead:(

I'm very much an occasional amateur mechanic but everytime I go to my Halfords Ultimate tool chests I wish I'd bought them years ago. There's just something about having a nice tool chest and the ease of which it makes finding the right tools. It was a great buy.

I need to get myself a decent tool chest, always something else to spend the money on and I also do very little true spanner work at my own house.

My tools are an eclectic mix of old and new, couple of Halfords Pro socket sets though.

I could really do with a tool chest as I end up with a sprawl of tools and absolutely no motivation to put them back properly after lying under the car for hours - but I've nowhere to put it without it being left in the worryingly unsecure shed so it's pretty much out of the question

Bought a load of Clarke Pro tools from machine mart, along with 2x toolboxes to keep them in.

Went for 6 sided sockets; less chance of rounding off old/rusted nuts/bolts

I've got a right mix of stuff, most of it is fairly cheap eBay/Aldi/where-ever stuff but I've also got some Halfords stuff in the mix too. I always seem to be buying some new tool or other.

I've just got a proper old fashioned cantilever red toolbox all stickered up, i thought about a proper tool chest on wheels but that'd be no good when i take most of my tools to trackdays etc.

This is a small selection of my tools i had to use to get the oil filter off my wifes Clio 197..

My main tools are a Blue-Point 77 piece 3/8" drive service kit (which my dad also uses daily), as well as a Snap-On 24" 1/2" breaker bar and Snap-On 1/2" impact socket set

These items get most use, and I've got some cheap spanners, some mole grips and pliers which also get occasional use.

Best thing i've ever bought is my 3ton steel low entry hi-ratio trolley jack :)

Complete pig if I need to lift it but it's amazing otherwise!

I've got a rollcab and a set of halfords professional drawers which are chock full of both a couple of socket sets (best one is my Crescent set from Costco!) and a lot of random tools I've acquired over the years.

Incidentally i've always wanted to find someone offloading tools at a car boot but the only people I ever see with tools are the traders :(

I highly reccomend one of these.

If it gets crushed, turning more force just tightens the grip on it. Havne't had to resort to screwdrivers etc since having this. Awesome tool.

Extension + breaker bar = win!

I bought one of these from Halfords about 15 years ago and it makes short work of a filter, though it only gets used once every 6mths.

The packaging is still the same as in the link!

My conservatory looks like a garage. Only thing i am missing is a car lift.

One of them things i always tell the mrs ill get round to sorting and clearing it up...

My "main" tool set is the 150-piece Halfords Pro set. Other than that it's a random selection of stuff strewn around the garage - old socket sets with long breaker bars, various hammers and sacrificial spanners/screwdrivers/sockets/allen keys, mole grips, all sorts. I have no allegiance to a particular brand, and I tend to buy things as I need them, which then get stored until such occasion as me needing them again.

When I was in the trade, my similar cabinet was insured for £18,000, that was before I got wed and had kids!

use king dick for my socket sets never broken any yet. the newer stuff i buy is generally halfords professional, as its good enough and has a lifetime guarantee, always changed broken things without hassle.

got a few record clamps and stilsons, probably made stuff.
