heard good things about sealey from a few people, my latest addition to my collection is...... a CV boot cone , £10 for a bit of plastic :o still, I aint paying to have it done.

could do with a nice little allen key set as I only have a few ball ended ones ranging from 4 to 10 mm or so

i have one of their "professional" torque wrenches, 3/8 size, and its absolutely lovely

my tools are a collection of loads of things, just whatever suits my needs best.

i once went to help a guy pull an engine out of an S4 to replace a turbo. the garage we were using was stacked full of teng tools (or something equally posh) but we ended up using my sets more because it covered more sized, didnt include needless imperial stuff and it got the job done.

only thing i seem to break are universal joints (1/4 and 3/8 size)

as for a cabinet, ive got a big old 6 draw Clarke roller job which does the job nicely

Imperial stuff isn't useless :P Its perfect when you need to hammer sockets over rounded Metric bolts :D

My kit is a complete mish mash of Ebay/Halfords/Sealey/Unbranded.
 
thats true, but ive got a 3/8 12pt clarke set whose job description includes sacrificial/kamakaze things like that.

in fact, when we were working on that S4 one of the exhaust manifold studs snapped and a 12pt clarke socket got hammered on so that we could finish the job

the set still works perfectly (apart from the 3/8 universal joint that i completel destroyed)
 
Amusingly enough I also have a 1/2" Clarke 12 sided set that has been completely abused over the years.

Wrench is now locked as the mechanism broke, the extension bar was used to hammer out drop links and about half of the sockets have been replaced after being attached to various stuck bolts.

Ah, that reminds me, ive got a broken 1/2 Laser ratchet. It was quite a nice ratchet when it was alive, but i used it as a hammer on a ball joint and it locked :D

i replaced it with a nice Clarke one, but if i were doing it again, id get one of those Clarke polyurethane ones as you dont need a lot of power for 1/2 drive as usually youd just put a breaker bar or impact gun on

Ah I was thinking of buying one of those when the funds allow so glad the quality is good. I've got a 70 odd piece sealey socket set last year and can't fault it. Very satisfying to use.

My biggest problem that is stopping me hoarding tools is lack of space. Next house we buy MUST have a garage!
 
just found a load of old britool spanners :D forgot I had em!

oh ye, I also have me some of them Halfords flex- ratchet spanners - VERY handy!

what screw drivers do you guys use? I have a fairly strong set but they are mostly assorted sizes of Phillips ended , I could do with some more flat ended ones.

I've got loads of halfords pro/advanced stuff as well as some snap on and teng. The halfords stuff is what I bought, the others are what i've picked up cheap;y from car boots, auctions and friends who were in the trade.

I've got some laser sockets but find they tend to stretch over the bolt when undoing tight nuts, resulting in either a rounded nut, or more often than not a severe spanner rash.

For the general housework/electrical stuff i've got clarke pliers and vde screwdrivers.
 
I have a Halfords socket set and a jack and stands. Most of my stuff is cheap bits though. If I have to get something random like a shallow 36mm socket I'll just find the cheapest one on eBay.
 
Saturday carboot time :D , new items I am going to look for is

small tool box
screw drivers to fill the above
some half inch sockets
some different sized ratchets , can never have to many! :D
wood / metal / brick drill bits.
torque wrench - old one fallen to bits!
star bits that fit to ratchet
more swan neck spanners

+ batterys for camera for pictures :cool:
